5.0 out of 5 stars Sweetheart of Sigmund freud, 14 Aug. 2009
This review is from: Sweetheart Of Sigmund Freud (Audio CD)
Great. I remember as a schoolboy, when a group of us got a copy of this LP and all sat around the gramaphone for a couple of hours, playing it over and over again. Now got my own copy, and remembered all the jazz solos note for note after 30 years, having hardly heard them played on the radio since then. Wonderful to have all these old Shorty Rogers masterpieces(some played by his own big and small bands, others by Red Norvo combo, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman and others), available again, gathered together in 2 CDs. All the old well-known West Coast musicians at their best.

This is a special album--one to keep and treasure--tracks like "Sweetheart of Sigmund Freud" withs its FOUR Baritones in unisopn on the Melody or "Infinity Promenade" with Trumpet section led by Maynard Fersuson and PERCUSSION(more than Drumming) by Shelly Manne--Echos of Stan Kenton and Count Basie everywhere but definitely Shorty Rogers own-Buy it youll like it!!
