4.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling!!!
This season of Star Trek sets it's standards high. Some of the episodes have your teeth clenched with fear and how can everything turn out right. Somehow, the Enterprise survives and lives on.

There are some appearences from Tasha Yarr which is a twist to the tale because she died in series one. Q makes an appearence when he's lost all of his powers and the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Star Trek The next Generatin season 3
I was wondering if any body else who has Star trek The Next Generation Season 3 onwards.
If anyone is having the same problem I have had. After you have played the first episode,it does not stay in English and you have to go into communications on the menu
to change it each time to English. As the first two seasons, one and two are not doing this.Thanks.About...

These slimline editions are brilliant because they take up much less space. They are far better value for money although the prices are climbing for some unknown reason - not good! Much better to watch than video versions as well, the quality is vastly improved.

The special features included are very interesting and informative; the cast, SFX and production teams give away a lot of secrets without spoiling the stories. Who would have guessed that Worf was so handsome without all the gunge?

This is the third installment which in my opinion is the best yet. Comes in a slimline case making it much smaller and easier to store. Also contains some great features on the final disc

3.0 out of 5 stars Something Odd about season 1 to 3, 26 Oct 2010

This review is from: Star Trek The Next Generation - Season 3 (Slimline Edition) [DVD] (DVD)
Well, season three of Next Gen is the series where it really began to reach some of the potential that it supposedly had.

Hang on a minute...it took how long to actually get to the good episodes? Three seasons? If this had been any other TV SF series it would have been canned after 1 season, never mind three. $1 million per episode and it didn't hit its stride until its third season in?

Scandalous. Paramount (and, despite being in increasingly poor health, Roddenberry himself) were clearly under huge pressure to a)prove they could easily muster lightning in a bottle twice and b)that 'new' TREK was superior to classic TREK...proven by outlasting it in terms of numbers of seasons produced. A difficult mission by all accounts.

In a climate that dictates that some shows do not even get passed 6 episodes before they have the plugged pulled and a mid-season replacement is brought into production...three seasons is a crime that should never have happened.

That said, Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes continue to be the best thing about NEXT GEN. It sure as hell is not the effeminate 'droid, the wobbley accented counsellor, the pointless night club (sorry, staff canteen) generally poor stories, horrendous acting and tortuously contrived humour.

It does, however, have one of the best season finales ever made. Sadly the fantastic "Best Of Both Worlds" Part One is not just great enough to carry a whole season.

Edited 4/2/11 to reflect actual history!
