The Shubb capo noir is fantastic in every way. There are plenty of other capo's out there. Some are cheaper, some can be attached and removed with one hand, some cover individual strings. None are superior to the capo noir.

1. It is small, and doesn't get in the way of your playing.
2. It is light, so doesn't drag the guitar neck down.
3. It's substantial enough to be solidly built.
4. It doesn't put the guitar out of tune.
5. It is an excellent design, with positive locking.
6. It has a screw for fine adjustment.
7. You can feel it's a quality product.
8. The "jaws" are rubber lined - it absolutely will not scratch your guitar.

I just wish everything else I bought was as "fit for purpose" as this brilliant gadget, I wish I could give it 6 stars!

I've tried a few capo's for my guitar and this is by far the best to use. It's easy to attach with no fiddly clips etc and its also quick to remove so for any live musician its ideal. It also doesn't mark your guitar and due to its design, fits both electric and acoustic comfortably

I had or still have a range of very different capos ... traditional ratchet and 'elasticated rubberised bar' types - G7th - Kyser and this Shubb. I dislike the Kyser as it seems so powerful that it crushes everything. The G7 is very effective and works brilliantly. The old traditional type also works well but is a bit fiddly to fit, move or remove. The Shubb beats them all. It's adjustably screw-controlled gripping mechanism means that it is exceptionally versatile and easy to use (same as the G7th). It is unbelievably light and so never upsets the balance of your guitar when fitted (which the heavy G7th can, on occasions). It's grip on the strings can be as gentle or strong as you wish. It is, in virtually all respects a perfect combination or form, funtion and usability; suitable for both professional and amateur players. It's only weakness has more to do with you than it ... because it is so small, light and unobtrusive, it can be rather easy to put down and mislay. Because of the way it works, it isn't usually possibly to grip it onto the end of your headstock (which is where the Kyser scores and, if you don't mind the risk of imbalance, also the G7th). That apart - it's perfect.

I will admit I have been a bit cheap when it comes to capos, buying the cheapest ones I could find. But both of my "trigger action" capos I have bought have broken not long after purchasing them. So I decided I wouldn't bother buying any more for a while. Then I saw this capo and I thought I would give it a go. And I love it! It's great, you can adjust it to fit your guitar perfectly and it stays firmly on! It makes my guitar sound great and it is really reliable. The delivery was fast too. Its high quality and well worth the price. I recommend this!

Unfortunately they use the word 'classic' to refer to the design rather than the word 'classical' which refers to the guitar. So, inevitably, they sent the wrong one but replaced it without fuss with the correct one after a phone call. Reasonably quick service despite the confusion, which is widespread on the net and not confined to the supplier but down to the manufacturer's blurb. The product does what it's supposed to do. What more can I say?

Good simple piece of equipment that works well. Please note that this is for classical guitars. For steel strung guitars you need the slightly 'curved' version.

Bought this for my daughter as she had the elastic kind that was not working any more. After she got used to putting it on the first couple of times, says she is delighted with it and works well.

I may be wrongly star rating this. I bought a really cheap electro acoustic cutaway 12'er from Gear4music, (the finish and fit of which, for the money, has to be seen to be believed!!!)

I had a good quality 'trigger capo', but alas it didn't really work on the 12 string and I wanted to play the intro to Hotel C on the 7th fret (as the recording)- (Em B7 Dsus2 Aadd2/9 C G Am B7 - try it).

This one does . . . .

However, and this may be a string issue - (a £75 guitar is hardly gonna have d'Addarios or Martins r even my old favourite Cathedrals!), I find the top E strings (11/12) need a slight re-tune when the capo is first used.

I have now got a decent set of strings and just need the time to re-string it.

In summary, once adjusted correctly via the thumb screw to suit the particular neck, it does what it says it will do, and with the unique 'lever clik' arrangement is pretty quick in use (except for the tuning issue, which may or may not resolve itself, which if it does would make it 5*

When I first saw this Shubb capo I thought I'd been ripped off. Three bits of metal and a screw, how does that work? Brilliantly is the only word to describe it. I bought it for a 12 string acoustic and it works better than I'd hoped. That it is also just as good on 6 strings is a bonus. I have several acoustics all with slightly different necks and fingerboard radius but the Shubb really does fit all of them. Highly recommended.
