5.0 out of 5 stars German Masters, 17 Jun 2009

This cd showed what Helloween are all about. Power Metal with the finished touches to boot. Scretching, virtuoso guitars; thunderous pounding drums, galloping bass and banshee vocals, metal as it should be. Helloween should of had more of the plaudits for what they do/have done for Power Metal. If you like your metal hard and fast then this is a start.

This was the first album by Helloween i purchased after coming across some guitar covers of 'were the rain grows' on youtube i fell in love with the style of the band, unlike a lot of power metal bands that take the music seriously (FICHT FOR THE GLORY OF THE METAL BY THE SMASHING OF STEEL I KILL FOR ITS HONOUR! blaaah) this band has a bunch of epic and fun styles you can tell they had fun with music.
This is another one of those awesome deluxe remaster editions, your getting more for your money than just the original album, it comes with a second disc containing b side singles and some covers (KISS anyone?) it also comes in a snazzy little sleeve covering the cd case, i like those.
So with this your getting a fair few tracks to listen to when it arrives and an awesome addition to any growing cd collection and after enjoying this im deffinitly in the market for another couple of Helloween albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Era, 13 Jun 2014

This is the first Helloween album with Andi Deris on vocals; a position with he has kept to the present day. This was a much needed breath of life into the band after the commercial failures of the past two albums with Michael Kiske on vocals. The guitar work between Roland Grapow and Michael Weikath is tastefully done, Markus Grosskopf's bass work is great (that tone!) Uli Kusch's drumming keeps the beat on these power metal tracks skilfully, and of course, Andi's wailing vocals add equal parts emotion and fun into the lyrics.

The album contains hard rocking tracks such as "Sole Survivor", "Mr. Ego", "Secret Alibi" and "Take Me Home" (Which seems to have a huge Van Halen influence) as well as softer songs such as "Why?", "Where the Rain Grows" and "In the Middle of a Heartbeat).

The expanded edition also adds some nice tracks such as the Deris-penned "Can't Fight Your Desire", as well as covers of KISS' "I Stole Your Love" and Thin Lizzy's "Cold Sweat".

This is the album that should have been released after Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II.

This almost one of the best album from "Deris period" and I respect it. Booklet in this edition presented as interviews and songs lyrics by small font.
