5.0 out of 5 stars The best Terry and June series released so far!, 21 April 2006

At last BBC sitcoms are being released at a much quicker pace. After three months since the release of series 2, the third Terry and June instalment is out. By now the series has adjusted to the new format [compared to Happy Ever After] and is in full swing.

This is the most consistent of all Terry and June releases so far and there are many classic moments to delight fans in this series. Perhaps the best moment is seeing Terry Scott dressed up in a plump rabbit costume and almost being caught be the fearsome Sir Dennis. Quite clearly, Terry Scott is on top form throughout the series and he performs with great panache throughout. This series does benefit from a new antagonist for Terry in the shape of Tarquin Spry as well as more regular appearances from Malcolm and Beattie. June Whitfield is, of course, outstanding and allows Terry to shine throughout.

One extra on the DVD is the 1981 Christmas Special which is one of the best episodes on the DVD. A very good comedy!

A bit dated by modern standards but still the best. Simple plot happy ending. I met Terry Scot several times when I lived in Surrey just outside Godalming.
I good person very easy to talk to. Happy days.

After what I thought was a weak start with Series one,the next 2 series appear to have picked things-up a little with in my view only one really slightly less than par episode out of the 6, dis-counting the Christmas Special.
The writers of these series deserve the thanks of the thousands of 'Terry and June' fans but without the perfect timing and delivery of these two seasoned professionals where would we all be? A real joy to watch.

Season Three of Terry and June is one of the best of all of the nine series.
Everyone involved in this production is by now clearly settled into the project. Everyone seems to take everything in their stride and the series progresses with ease.
Terry Scott and June Whitfield star in this third series of "Terry and June".
This is an entertaining bit of farcical comedy that has a lot to offer. Series three has some very fine episodes indeed with true comedy and a warm and comfortable very experienced approach to comedy.

This third series was recorded in 1981. It was originally transmitted during November and December that year and it is still a very entertaining series thirty years later. There are six very good episodes and an extra bonus Christmas special episode. This bonus show was really a Happy New year episode. Each episode has a different and brief comedy intro as the opening credits begin. Each is a variation on the same idea that Terry takes some drinks outside to join June for a nice sit in the garden. But each version is different and slapstick.

Terry and June get new neighbours and Terry wants his lawnmower back after he lent it to the old neighbours. The new neighbours regard the lawnmower as theirs since it was there when they bought the house. Terry decides to steal it back and gets in a terrible mess. In another very funny episode things get very farcical when nephew Alan brings some second hand "it's a knockout" props to the house and tries to sell them to some Japanese buyers on the same day that Terry's Boss comes to dinner. In another episode Terry insists on taking June on a holiday weekend and risks taking her to stay at Nephew Alan's new pub in the country. This turns out, predictably, to be a disaster. Another very good episode sees Terry trying to shake off a bad cold so that he and June can go on a mini break for work. The Christmas special sees friends of Terry and June turn up for the New Years Eve party and they have fallen out. Terry tries to help the couple get back together even though June wisely tells him not to get involved.
This is an excellent set of programmes from a classic comedy and when you consider the stuff that's passed off as comedy these days you realise just how good Terry and June really were.

At the time of its transmission the series was often mocked and scoffed at. It was criticised by some people as being too corny and old fashioned. It was traditional comedy and not "alternative". Other people loved it. I really liked it back then and have even more respect for it now. It may not be non stop roaring with laughter comedy, (what show actually is like that?) but it does have some very funny moments. Terry and June Medford are an ordinary middle class couple who live in suburban Purley. Terry is accident prone, helpless and over ambitious. June is his long suffering wife who has to cope with the mess that Terry gets into.
Terry works for Sir Dennis Hodge who often calls at the Medford's home just at the wrong time.
Terry is well intentioned but many misunderstandings lead to a lot of farcical situations and Terry and June always get into complications trying to get out of the situations they find themselves in.

June Whitfield is excellent and Terry Scott is also very good with his comic expressive face and timing. Both Terry Scott and June Whitfield offer us a warm and inviting performance.
This third series is a good classic comedy that should not be forgotten.
