Having reviewed the first series, I mentioned there that this series was better. Whilst the first series was brilliant, it relied too much on repeated routines. This series gets rid of that repetition and aims to give quality and longer-length routines in each episode to give the outstanding series a sign of progression.

There are also less errors. Having watched Derren many times, reading him like a little demented psychic, it has emerged when he makes mistakes and he is deliberately making mistakes to affect the attitude the participant(s). It is much to his credit that he doesn't, like many similar performers, edit his show (which he easily could) to cover these up. I still have the utmost respect for him broadcasting the casino special which didn't work in his favour.

Whilst I felt that the first series had strong and weak routines, this series is much more consistent in its excellence. Every routine in this series is very strong. The 'in-between' routines which fill in the gaps between the big attractions and celebrity appearances have much more variety. He also dispenses with the telephone hypnosis which book-ended each episode of the first series. This became an annoyance for me after a while, especially watching them back to back on DVD.

Highlights in this series are; Jonathan/Jane Ross card trick, staring competition, Zombie game (on par with his specials), the mind reading booth (always tickles me), word choice, mo mowlam newspaper article and the word counting.

Excellent stuff, you must buy this.

I remember seeing this series when it aired. Each episode is so interesting, the end of the show arrives too soon. This left the viewer with eager anticipation to see then following episode next week. That's why I value this DVD collection of Series 2. It's provides more Derren without having to wait. His prowess of suggestion, artful mis-speaking, and so on, absolutely fascinates me.

I live in the United States and, to date, each of Derren Brown's DVDs are not playable here in Region One. So because of Derren, I purchased a "region-free" DVD player. My Derren Brown DVD collection continues to grow with each new DVD that becomes available.

Derren is brilliant as usual and I really enjoyed watching the DVD and the opportunity to watch it again and again. I loved the bit with Jonathan Ross and his absolutely gorgeous wife Jane. And why do I suddenly want a red BMX for Christmas? No more than 3 stars though because the content is exactly the same cut as that shown on TV. There are a couple of voice over behind the scene discussions recorded but I expected more. More video of the build up, the actual 'trick' and comment from Derren on what we had seen and heard. Artists and DVD producers need to put more into their productions than what people can get direct from TV, then I'd be happy to part with more of my money.

Derren Brown is a fantastic entertainer and, to me, this is one of his finest series'. He tells you a little of how he does what he does and you can work some out but there's always so much more than you can explain away easily. Even having watched the series before and knowing what was going to happen I was still amazed when I watched every episode.

This guy is a genius. Anyone who has seen his trickery and Messiah show on TV will know that he's much better than Paul Daniels or his son Keith. He is also miles ahead of Paul McKenna in the hypnotism stakes - though he hasn't yet managed to persuade millions of overweight women to part with their money. Brown's latest DVD is another gem. He outfoxes some celebs like Jonathan Ross and his missus with the red hair and others like Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp. It's almost a waste of time trying to work out how Derren does it, but he does reveal some tricks of the trade in the 'extras' section. I've tried a few and they work. For the past six months, I've gone down the the tuck shop in work at 10 a.m. and asked for a cup of tea and a mars bar. Now, using Derren Brown's 'mind control strategy', I stare intently into the tuck shop woman's eyes, nod twice and say 'I'd like the usual, yeah?'. She then serves me up a cup of tea and a mars bar! Without me having to mention either item by name! It doesn't work quite so well in large department stores, but apparently the psychic energy isn't as good there. Anyway, top man Derren, and more power to your elbow.

Love Derren's tricks and his approach also. His is almost a scientific approach. I love that he'll often go back and explain how he did it. You'd think that would take he magic away but no it has the opposite effect

Derren Brown is one clever guy. His tricks are original and highly entertaining. I love the way he's so open and honest about the fact that there's no magic in his magic.

can't believe what this Juan is capable of. Would like to see him do a series that younger viewers could watch - would be a great complement to school programs,
