when this was first aired in the 90's i thought it was christopher reeve playing CK/superman but it wasnt, it is Dean cain. Dean cain is good but Christopher reeve IS superman. i think this boxset is a must have for any superman fan as its as the title says "the new adventures" although the special effects arent as good as smallville, keep in mind that it was the 90's. i thought it was odd that they kept clarks parents alive as they both died before he got to metropolis in the movie but they wanted to keep it fresh and different from the movies i guess. the actors/actresses who played the lead roles were very impressive ecspecially teri hatcher as lois and Dean Cain as Clark Kent but my favourite is lex luthor who is played by the fantastic John Shea. this is a must have for any superman fan but it does come 3rd with the Christopher reeve movies coming 1st and the excellent smallville in 2nd. but as there arent many superman projects out there i dont think it would be a bad thing to own all three of them.

Lois and Clark is a cheerful and optimistic series which features a first rate main cast and is suitable for all ages. Each story is imaginative and thoughtful with an uplifting mood and combines adult relationship drama with uplifting family adventure. 22 episodes per box set is also terrific value. Sadly both picture and sound quality could be better, possibly due to a poor NTSC to PAL standards conversion and mixed source material.

I first started watching this programme from the beginning of series 3 when it aired on BBC 1 about 10 years ago. I then backtracked to watch the first 2 series which made a lot more sense. I was hooked from the first episode and how the characters were so well cast and you can really see the chemistry. This series really lets you understand the background behind superman and combines everything to get you gripped such as comedy, action, romance and sometimes sadness. I loved it when i was a teen and was thrilled to see the dvds released over 10 years later so now that i can really appreciate just how hot Dean Cain is!

I remembered watching this in the 90's so couldn't wait for it to arrive. Although, I was a bit anxious as some programmes don't stand the test of time very well. No worries, this one does. Terri Hatcher as Lois Lane is smoking hot (I didn't remember that) and Dean Cain is a perfect foil. Caring, yet macho enough when needs be. (He is Superman, after all!)
The basic story is Lois loves Superman, Clark loves Lois, Lois doesn't know Clark is Superman. Perfect scenario for numerous great adventures involving all three.
My youngest, age six is now hooked. Saturday night is now once again Superman watching night. Great stories where baddies are baddies, goodies are goodies, and the goodies always win, even if they struggle sometimes. A wonderful supporting cast makes the series a joy to watch. The old clichéd phrase, 'They don't make 'em like this any more.'
Great family entertainment. Highly recommended. Already got season 2 on order!

I bought this because I used to watch it as a child when it was on British TV years ago. My sisters and I used to love the banter between the two main characters and this is still a joy to see. Viewing it after so many years I was surprised at how light hearted it is; it brought back lovely memories but I felt it lacked depth which is why I don't think it would necessarily appeal to someone who has never seen it before.

That said, the storylines are very fun and appropriately over the top and each episode manages to be packed with action without ever feeling badly paced. The show doesn't take itself too seriously and the real strength is in the wonderful cast who bring a genuine and surprising warmth to characters which could very easily have been lost in the gloss of the show. Even as I write this review I'm smiling to myself remembering some of the scenes. I would say it is ideal for family viewing and if you enjoyed this the first time around and are looking for something lovely and light you should definitely buy it.

This is the only show in history to get me up early on a saturday morning. I used to set my alarm to make sure I didn't miss an episode which was on even before Live and Kicking started. I was warey of buying the series as i'm now in my 20s and these things don't always stand the test of time. Apart from looking a little cheesy i'm in no way dissapointed. I love the Superman legend and adore watching how Lois and Clark bicker with each other.

Many people have mentioned Smallville in comparison. I have enjoyed watching the early series but it hasn't held my interest in the way Lois and Clark did and still does. Plus I can never quite forgive the writers bringing in Lex Luthor and Lois Lane while Clark is still in Smallville.

The package arrived much sooner than I thought it would and in excellent condition!

"Lois and Clark - The New Adventures of Superman" is classic, and very entertaining! I recommend this to all fans of Superman. Dean Cain's portrayal of Superman is very well acted, and whilst his version of Clark Kent is still very similar to his Superman-it doesn't hinder the show in anyway.

I love this Season, theres a decent amount of action and tasteful humour that isn't cringey. Some of the special effects used in Season 1 still work but there are a couple that do not when comparing with the effects to the CGI of 2011. If "Lois and Clark" had the same CGI as "Smallville", it would have made this show even better.

In conclusion: very enjoyable, worth the price, great acting, decent scripts, good SFX, an awesome theme tune, what more could one ask for when it comes to a tv series about Superman!

Haven't seen this since it first aired in the 90's & am reminded on viewing why I loved it in the first place. The series has charm and warmth & is helplessly compelling. My partner, not a Superman fan at all, has watched every episode with me, enjoying the clever stories & the wonderful cast. Dean Cain makes a good Superman, but an even better Kent. Teri Hatcher quite simply IS Lois Lane. John Shea is pure class as Lex Luthor & Lane Smith a perfect Perry White. Watching the 2 lead cast actors as their relationship grows & their banter & bitching is very entertaining. I think this is my favourite take on the Superman mythos & thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of purchasing this dvd. Series 2 is just as entertaining but more comic strip, this one is more grounded. Brilliant stuff!

I remember watching this in the early nighties & i was upset when it finished so i had to get it being into this stuff its good to get back to the roots in the days before smallville graced our screens there was Lois & Clark when originally aired in the uk the show was just plain the new adventures of superman but as you can see we get the american title these days & even current repeats have it which is how it is supposed to be as the show is as much about Lois as it is about Clark we get some great storys from Clarks arrival in metropolis to Lex Luthors attempt to take over the daily planet.

All in all a great series and i will be getting them all

I don't even know how to convey how much I love this series. Its comforting, funny, romantic, believable despite its absurdity and utterly wonderful. Some of the storylines might be far-fetched but they are carried off with aplomb and it has some of the best supporting characters you will find in any tv show. Clark Kent's wonderful parents who are warm and lovable, the chief who is exactly as a top newspaper man should be(minus the sleaze) and Cat who is a little bit of welcome sauciness. If you have kids watch it with them, if not curl up with some chocolate and enjoy it. You're in for a treat and i'm not just talking about the sight of Dean Cain topless....
