5.0 out of 5 stars Budget compilation heaven
The previous reviewer is spot on this is indeed a great compilation and the ideal introduction to Wilsons underappreciated talent. If you want something soulful thats going to take you from the 50's when soul began to the 70's when it finally matured and came of age then this selection of Jackie Wilson classics and lesser known songs will do it for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars a bit of a mix-up
Got sent a double CD which had Jackie Wilson in 1 and some classical music in the other - not that I don't like classical music, but it WAS unexpected

However have to say that Amazon were great about replacing it

Theres too many highlights to list them all but if you only know the obvious reference points such as Reet Petite and Higher And Higher then it pushes all the buttons. For an appreciation of his vocal strength listen to his Danny Boy which could just as easily be Ray Charles with that arrangement! It simply has the kind of depth you wont hear on some of his more up-tempo numbers,as good as they are,its goosebumps on the back of the neck time.

On a final note the label itself Music Club is one of those budget labels i've come to trust as i have several of theirs and they deserve every credit for largely doing an excellent job. If labels were rated here i'd give them a solid 4 stars, have a browse and check them out.

This is as good a place to start as any in building on an initial appreciation of Jackie Wilson.Great compilation with good clean sound and useful sleeve notes. A shining example of how to reissue older material from different sources.

This is the first Jackie Wilson CD that I have bought and it did not disappoint. I bought this 2 disc CD just for one track; (your love keeps lifting me) Higher & Higher. The only other Jackie Wilson song I knew before listening to this CD, the other song being 'Reel Petite'. So this is a great introduction to Jackie Wilson if you like his music, but are unfamiliar with his other songs.

In catching up with a range of artists, Jackie Wilson was a name put on the list early. This compilation captures the range of his material from early days to the latter rebirth of his career. Recommended for a music enthusiast looking to acquaint themselves with a top drawer music icon.
