3.0 out of 5 stars some good, some bad and some ugly
Summerslam 2004,well summerslam being summerslam means or guarantees that there should be some matches that slap the taste out of your mouth, however in the case of 2004 we had a good summerslam but nothing more but some of what happened that night shall live long in the brain and that factor can't be dismissed.
The event opened with a fairly decent six man tag team...

MATCH FAVOURITE:JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD VS THE UNDERTAKER (WWE TITLE)
WORST MATCH:DIVA DODGEBALL

What a Summerslam pay-per-view from the year 2004 :) where history was made. Randy Orton became the youngest
World Heavyweight Champion when he defeated the Rabid Wolverine Chris Benoit. JBL and The Undertaker in my
opinion stole the show where they put on an amazing match for the WWE Championship, which ended with The
Undertaker placing JBL through his own limo. Eddie Guererro and Kurt Angle also stole the show with their ****
technical match up where Kurt Angle made Latino Heat tap out to the Ankle Lock.

Summerslam 2004 is put in my list of favourite Summerslam pay-per-views.

Loads of great matches, ( except the Diva dodgeball shambles ), and a real blast from the past.
It amazes how many guys have changed in 9 years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Let The Games Begin!, 1 Jan 2014
This review is from: WWE - Summerslam 2004 [DVD] (DVD)
This PPV was show cased in 2004 with an okay match Card

Pre-Show Singles Match.
RVD vs Renee Dupree - 2/10

A very boring match which the fans did not care about with RVD winning the match with a impressive leap to land the frog splash was probably the only highlight.

Six man Tag Team match
Dudley boyz (Bubba, D-von & Spike) vs Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman & Paul London - 6/10

It was a great match showing what Spike Dudley's plan was I enjoyed the match and so did the crowd... Kinda

Til' Death Do us Part match - Winner Marries Lita
Kane vs Matt Hardy W/ Lita - 6/10

This match was great with a huge disappointment at the end of the match as to who won I can't really say anything else bad about that.

Best out of Five series for united states Champion Match
John Cena vs Booker T - 4/10
A boring match with a very very very very VERY! Predictable ending when "Super Cena" wins.

Triple Threat match For Intercontinental Champion
Edge vs Batista vs Chris Jericho - 8/10

An awesome great match where my all time favorite Edge retains the intercontinental Championship

Singles Match
Kurt Angle W/ Luther Reigns vs Eddie Guerrero - 7/10

A good match that improved the match card very well with a great ending both superstars did amazing.

Singles Match
Triple H W/ Ric Flair vs Eugene - 3/10

A match I thought was okay boring and quite harsh to Eugene considering Eugene's gimmick is to have learning difficulties and I also saw a documentary saying Eugene's actor was actually really upset and hurt during that match.

Diva Dodgeball
Team Diva - Trish Stratus, Gail Kim, Stacy Keibler, Molly Holly, Jazz, Victoria, Nidia vs Team Diva Search - Maria, Christy Hemme, Joy Giovanni, Carmella, Amy Weber, Tracy, Michelle Mccool - 4/10

Okay it's good to have a different match type every now and then but seriously?! Carmella wasn't even there Forcing Trish to become Team Diva Captain Trish at the end has a cat-fight with Victoria for being eliminated first when actually Jazz was eliminated first Stacy, Gail & Jazz were not even hit with a dodgeball to be eliminated in the first place also Tracy, Maria, Michelle & Amy Weber were hit with dodgeballs and were not eliminated but at-least Joy was hit and she truthfully admitted it.

Singles Match For WWE Championship,
JBL W/ Orlando Jordan vs Undertaker - 9/10

An awesome amazing match which JBL wins!! By Disqualification which was a great turn out.

Singles Match For WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Randy Orton vs Chris Benoit - 8/10

A great main event match where Randy Orton became the youngest world Heavyweight Champion ever.

Overall - 6/10
It was an OKAY PPV I mean I would change most of the match types but I mean it wasn't that bad.

Summerslam 2004,well summerslam being summerslam means or guarantees that there should be some matches that slap the taste out of your mouth, however in the case of 2004 we had a good summerslam but nothing more but some of what happened that night shall live long in the brain and that factor can't be dismissed.
The event opened with a fairly decent six man tag team match, the dudley boyz with spike went up against rey mysterio, paul london and brian kidman, when you consider the quality of the athletes here then it isnt unfair to say that this was a letdown but it didnt last long, had a great finisher and some good moves included but should have been better.
Next up was a 'till death do us part' match, basically the winner between kane and matt hardy who were engaged (pun) in a war for a chunk of 2004,would marry lita.
This match was a so so match for me,and leaned more against a poor match that good, there was again some good moves, but it just didnt work so on we go.
Next up was the first in a best of 5 series where the winner would dance away with the united states championship, booker T and john cena were the rivals and they did a good job in getting the crowd going and providing a good contest with near falls, skill, pace and precision, certainly the best match of the night up to that juncture.
The WWE intercontiental championship was up next in a triple threat enviroment, the champ edge defended it against batista and chris jericho, this was a very good match, almost superb, dear falls all over the place, people going for pins and submissions left, right and centre, people trying to profit when others place their finisher move, you get the picture, this was a very good match and all three men impressed with their desire and attitude.
Next up was another great match and a repeat of their match 4 months earlier, kurt angle against eddie guerrero, this match may not have been as good as their wrestlemania encounter but it was still excellent, neither men afforded their oppenent too many opportunities and was a very close and cagey affair that had people on their feet and going bananas, very good, hard to follow.
The match that did follow was pretty terrible, come on,lets be honest, triple H against eugene, how the heck does that look to the doubters of WWE,eugene pranced about and took the biscuit with his stupid antics and triple looked a bit ashamed at times but the man is a true professional and took this as he does with any other match,it seemed to last forver at times as eugene tried to steal the limelight,to be fair he mounted some good moves but one could tell triple was allowing him too dictate the match, but in the end juctice prevailed and a sense of normality was restored but this was something of a waste of time for all involved and yes i am including eugene in that.
A diva dodgeball match was up next and lasted a minute or so,wow ,aint we lucky, actually we were as this was a joke.
The World heavyweight title was up next as the undertaker went up against the champion JBL,firstly this match ended cheaply and that point wasnt wasted on a frustrated crowd, the aftermath of that was good though, the match itself was a mixture of good all the way down to dull and draining,so a title match not fit for a king then.
The same cant be said of the main event proper, where the WWE champion chris benoit went up against randy orton who had a very good year, was it set to get better? watch and see, this was a terrific match and both men deserve all the plaudits, the ending for me was blinding and bold but a sign of what was to come,a glorious way to end a mixed bag of average to brilliant, well nothings perfect hey!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wwe Summerslam 2004 : A great ppv, 25 April 2007

Six man tag match

Dudleys vs Paul london, Billy Kidman and rey Mysterio.

A decent opener, some high flying stuff. Very fast paced, definetely the right way to start this ppv.

7/10 Winner ( Dudleyz)

Till Death Do Us Part Match Kane vs Matt Hardy.

WOW! what an awesome match, hardy tries his hardest hits kane with a disgusting ring bell shot to the head. A really good match. Correctly durated. Kane wins with a thunderous chokeslam off the top rope, truly awesome the crowd loves it.

8/10 Winner ( Kane)

John Cena vs Booker T (1st match in the 7 series for the us title).

Fairly poor this bout not dreadful but just doesn't forfill the crowd's hype and anticipation.A little on the slow side, im sure thought these two world class stars will make up for it throughout the series. I hope so for smackdowns sake.

5/10 Winner ( Cena)

( Intercontinental Title ) Edge vs Batista vs Chris Jericho.

A really good match this. ebbs and flows between all superstars. The best ic title triple threat in years. Batista is one for the future. Jericho is a class act even if a little bit soldout and well edge deserves it big time soon.

Good match 8/10 Winner ( Edge)

Kurt Angle vs Eddie Guerrero.

A truly awesome match between these if a little lastly. Really close fought bout.

8/10 Winner ( Angle)

Triple h vs Eugene.

A pretty good match. Eugene is funny as usual. He even stone cold stunner the game shortly followed by the games pedigree. triple h regroups for his own pedigree and secures the count.

7/10 Winner ( Triple h)

JBL vs Undertaker (WWE title)

Another good match, lvied up to expectation. A little slow and boring in some parts. A great ending taker loses it and chokeslams jbl ( Already busted) through the top of his limousine.

7.5/10 Winner ( DQ JBL)

Randy Orton vs Chris benoit ( World Title)

A long match, but a good match. Ortons is definetely one for the future of this business. Benoit is a a great technical wrestler but for me just ins't the kind of wrestler i want in my main event. Benoit seems better or more suited to US title or intercontinental.

Orton wins in a fab ending.

7/10 Winner ( Orton)

A grat ppv tonight with the exception of one match. All were well above average. Buy this if you get thee chance. !!!
