This DVD complements the album Sleepy Buildings, in so far as it is a more intimate affair than the other live gigs available. It also has a largely different set-list from Sleepy Buildings.
Here the band play in a theatre in Amsterdam, with warm lighting and a special series of animations projected onto a screen behind them. Emphasis is more on the prog than the metal sounds of their first records, although there is plenty of guitar to satisfy those who long for the more overtly dramatic stuff from Mandylion and Nighttime Birds.
The second DVD has superb interviews from Dutch and Italian TV that put British TV music reporters to shame. No inane questions here. The Gathering are, as you might imagine, articulate, good-humoured and devoid of pretentiousness. The Tour Impression is a good-natured glimpse into what must have been an arduous trek around Europe and America.
Recommended to everyone, but you must see A Noise Severe. That DVD is glorious.

This DVD won an Eddison award in the Netherlands. It takes only a few minutes to see why:
It's the finest, though not longest, of 3 Gathering DVD live sets from their Annekan years . A flawless recording of a 2005 gig at Amsterdam's legendary Paradiso. Picture, sound quality are so high all way through, it's hard to believe its not Blu-ray.
Camera cuts across the band are spot -on, zoom- ins close enough you catch the full intensity of Anneka's sublime vocals , can figure Rene's guitar chords down to each finger and fret if you so want, see just how he raises a Theremin from surf-music cliché to a siren of your darkest nightmares, also drawing on other novel electonica ,as and where they fit.
Anneke slowly blends and re-emerges seamlessly in and out of TG Psychonaut-logo Seadragons , plus other animated video clips, it all adds up to a great mellow trip-rock effect
