Not One of His Best
on 6 June 2015
Having seen Michael Buble live a few years back I was expecting great things here, but I can’t say that I was overly impressed with this DVD & CD offering? It’s ok but not as good as his previous or later offerings
Yes, he has a great voice, but too often those great songs became just a little ordinary as he reels them off and morphs into, ‘you just love me, don’t you,’ mode! I found all the pointing, pouting, strutting and his ’ over sincerity’ rather irritating in the end. We Brit’s just don’t get all this ‘American ham it up and cheese’ on stage do we, and Buble had a factory full in this show - the Josh Groban cameo is classic cringe and reach for the bucket, there were several others like that! Look, in fairness, I did enjoy some of the songs and the band were undeniably excellent, but overall this was bordering on average fare, from a man who seems to have has lost a little of his edge, maybe he's become a little complacent? Perhaps he’s trying too hard with the showbiz aspect and he should just let his voice do the talking?
I was somewhat disappointed on the whole. The CD is frankly nothing out of the ordinary with just a couple of good songs, but I would not watch the DVD again, as I am not prepared to trawl through that load of slush & gush again – sorry! And…I do have several of his albums, which I like, and I have taken the effort, and paid a hefty ticket price, to see him live, so I am not anti- Michael B!
