Do not buy any other bag!,
By Beanie72 (Southport, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lowepro Slingshot 100 Sling Bag For Digital SLR & 1-2 Lenses for Canon 450D, 1000D,500D, Nikon D3000, D5000,D90, Sony Alpha DLSR Range and Panasonic G1 Series - Black (Camera)
What can I say? This bag is truly designed for purpose. For the travelling photographer this is an absolute delight. It has so many great features, all of which work! The best part is the slingshot. Being able to have your camera ready without taking off the bag is brilliant. The bag is designed so everything is to hand in the 'front' position (it also gives you extra support in this position), & yet in the 'back' position everything is nicely padded, won't fall out & doesn't weigh heavy on one shoulder. There are some nice extras, like the LCD screen protector, & the waterproof, hideaway cover is very useful (especially on any rambling you may do), the bag can be covered & protected in seconds. There is room for keys, money & phone. Sandwiches & drink would be a struggle! This bag is very compact, if you carry lots of lenses you may want the 200 version. There are some external loops that a tripod could be clipped to (I haven't tried yet). The bag is listed for a digital camera but you could easily fit a film SLR, lenses & spare film in this too. Quite simply, this is the best camera bag I have ever used!

...I am right handed.Along with many, possibly most right-handed women I always carry a bag on my left shoulder, leaving my right arm free. Getting used to a strap on my right shoulder is much harder than I would have thought - it just isn't used to it. It feels very odd and after a while sometimes begins to ache. Assuming it has been designed for right-handers they can only have had men in mind. Apart from that I agree with all the positive comments made by other reviewers. I would just prefer a left-shoulder version that's all.

Great bag but..,

Just got this bag today. Build Quality is what you'd expect from Lowepro excellent! Does what it says on the tin so to speak! Now then I have a Canon 400D with a battery grip, 17-85 IS lens with lens hood. This set up is a tight fit to say the least in this bag . In fact it won't fit with the hood attached . Just about fits with the hood reversed. The 400D in standard form will fit a treat and there is room for an extra lens and flash . Still I give it top marks for design , price etc . Just a tad small for a big DSLR. I suggest you try for size in a camera shop and then buy it on Amazon!

Fab Bag!,

I cannot recommend this bag highly enough. I recently took it on holiday, and was able to fit an SLR, a compact digital, tons of spare films and memory cards and my guide book in it! The inside is full of pouches to store stuff, and there are extra pockets for small items like keys etc on the front. The weather proof cover is great (and worked in a heavy downpour!)

Lowepro Slingshot 100,

I really like this bag, its well made and looks smart, the "slingshot" idea is a great one and it works well. Its just about the right size for my needs, at a squeeze it will fit in my nikon d300 with 18-200mm lens attached, 10-20mm lens and 50mm lens in separate compartments and sb-600 speedlight in top compartment, a couple of filters, lens hoods and spare CF card. That really is about all it is possible to fit in but it all fits in securely with nothing rattling around. However as mentioned it is a bit of a squeeze to get this particular, and relatively large, camera out at times but nothing to detract from this great little bag. I would recommend to anybody who is looking for a good quality and unobtrusive bag to carry around their kit.

I've got the 100 and in addition to all the comments below, the man in Currys (which was cheapest at the time a few weeks ago) showed me some tips where you can use the ziplock to loop the zip cords through as a security feature. The ziplocks on the main compartment are a nice touch in themselves too- means the camera shouldn't fall out whilst you're opening the bag. Nicely designed and extremely comfortable - don't forget the stability strap for long walks and I find it fine.

I was really pleased when I first got this bag. It's comfortable to wear, carries my gear fine and provides easy access to my camera. Having used it for a couple of months now though, I'm slightly less enamoured. The main strap across the chest is v. awkward if you're a woman...especially if you use the supporting side strap to hold the bag in place. Let's just say it's not v. flattering...

A truly go-everywhere bag,
By Mr. Stuart Robert Harris "Vivir Con Arte" (Bradford-on-Avon, UK) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Lowepro Slingshot 100 Sling Bag For Digital SLR & 1-2 Lenses for Canon 450D, 1000D,500D, Nikon D3000, D5000,D90, Sony Alpha DLSR Range and Panasonic G1 Series - Black (Camera)
I bought the 100AW at the same time as I bought my Canon 5D with 24-105mm lens. The Slingshot has been the permanent home for the camera ever since, as well as for extra cards, an extra battery, a circular polariser, USB cable and occasionally a flash gun or a 100mm macro lens. With its shoulder strap and a little hand loop at the top, it's become my "man bag"; the big top zipped compartment takes my mobile phone and other odds and ends, while the zipped front pocket is perfect for my wallet. So although the whole lot isn't exactly light-weight, it's easy enough to take it everywhere, so I more often than not have my camera with me, ready and willing.Out on my mountain bike, I can sling it across my back and secure it with the extra strap, while clipping my iPod to the main strap at high-chest level. Whether on the bike, or walking round and about, the sling system works well. The internal dividers, with velcro fastenings, work well enough in the relatively small space of the camera compartment. (I bought a 300AW for when I take out my 100-400mm lens, and the velcro divider system is much less robust). There are some minor improvements that could be made, such as having a double zip fastener on the top compartment, and offering the product in other colours than black (e.g. khaki). But all in all, it's been one of my best buys in a long time.

This was one of my first accessories having bought the 400D, since it arrived it now goes with me and the camera everywhere. It has been designed well and I just love the shoulder/sling design, it is especially good when you come to take photo and want to access your camera, you simply rotate it on your person so the back is sitting on your chest, unzip, remove camera use it and by all means use the surface of the bag for added support. Once done you simply put the camera back in, zip it up and push it to your back again. Its so simple which makes it so good. I won't repeat too much of what other people have already commented :)

This bag is designed to carry a camera with a spare lens, and that's exactly what it does, and not much else. It keeps your camera snug, and easily accessible. The spare less is more tucked away, but still easy to get to. There is room and compartments to keep any cables (chargers etc) and memory cards (or a spare film or two if you still use them). There is however very little room for anything else. If like me you like to carry a drink and a spot of lunch on your day out, you will like me have to get another bag to do this. You'd be hard pushed to carry your tripod in it, or a flash. But it keeps your camera safe and dry, which is the most important thing. Also it is quite comfortable, even on long walks, although it took me a while to work out how you wear it properly.
