2.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect much
Don't listen to the previous reviewer, they clearly haven't seen the movie, or have certainly done a bad job of remembering it if they have. The two returning cast members are Eugene Levy (Jim's Dad) and Chris Owen who plays Chuck Sherman AKA The Shermanator, but his role is pretty minor. The character Paul Finch does not feature at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect much, 6 Nov 2005
This review is from: American Pie Presents: Band Camp [DVD] (DVD)
Don't listen to the previous reviewer, they clearly haven't seen the movie, or have certainly done a bad job of remembering it if they have. The two returning cast members are Eugene Levy (Jim's Dad) and Chris Owen who plays Chuck Sherman AKA The Shermanator, but his role is pretty minor. The character Paul Finch does not feature at all.
First off, if you're thinking that this is American Pie 4, don't. This movie is a cheap spin-off designed to cash in on a tried and tested idea. The plot is weak and boring and the jokes, which are mostly copied from the 3 previous films are all very samey and dull.
Tad Hilgenbrinck, who plays the movie's central character - Steve Stiffler's younger brother Matt does a reasonable job of imitating the original Stiffler traits but the rest of the cast are very weak and uninteresting.
So, 'Band Camp' is vaguely likeable and fun. But would have undoublably been a flop if it had been released as a movie in it's own right, without a history and without the American Pie name associated with it. Regardless of whether they are standalone or part of a series all movies need to carry their own weight and this one doesn't.
I'm imaging that like me, most American Pie fans will be curious to see this film even if they're not expececting much from it. So, I'd advise auditioning it before paying for your own copy. Trust me, you'll understand why once you've seen it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best american pie but still worth a watch i'd say., 13 July 2010

This review is from: American Pie Presents: Band Camp [DVD] (DVD)
Okay I'll admit it it's not the best American Pie Film there is and at some points it does look like they are trying too hard to be like the 1st three films but it's still worth a watch the new Stifler is easily as funny and entertaining as Seann William Scott and it's great to see Eugene Levy back as Jim's dad and Sherman back in this one aswell even though he doesn't get a very big role compared to what he did in the first three..

3.0 out of 5 stars Watchable... But not the same!, 2 Nov 2005
This review is from: American Pie Presents: Band Camp [DVD] (DVD)
After watching the past 3 installments of American Pie, it was a shame to see that they could not bring out a 4th that was worthy of a cinema screening! Unless i missed it...
But the plot is based on Stiflers younger brother Matt, who is aspiring to be like his older brother by making adult movies. Unfortunatly his antics plunge him into the school councillors office where the councillor is played by an old cast member "Shermminator", in which he sends Matt off to band camp as punishment.
Making the most of his oppertunity, Matt arrives at Band camp to the dislike of the rest of his band members and sets up a string of hidden cameras to catch all the so called "action" that takes place after the lights go out! But distractions happen when he bumps into an old high school flame... and the plot takes the ever obvious path of love, hate and a happy ending with some comical happenings in between! Jim's Dad also makes an apperance as the Band camp macro (regulator).
In the end, worth seeing if you have watched the others, but it will never be the same without the original cast!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a follow on from American Pie!, 12 Jan 2006

I loved the first three American Pie films, and certainly got a shock when I watched this one! Not that it's a bad film, it's just I had the expectations that it would be funny and similar to the other films, but it wasn't.
As far as the film goes, it was reasonable. It has a straight forward storyline - the main character is Stifler's younger brother, and he gets sent to band camp with all of the geeks for misbehaving. There he tapes girls in the showers etc hoping to get better footage than Stifler's, but along the way he encounters a few obstacles.
If you want a film that's easy to follow, this could be for you. If you are looking for a follow on from the other films, then don't expect too much from this! Just a warning!

2.0 out of 5 stars Just like Home alone 3 & 4, 9 Nov 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: American Pie Presents: Band Camp [DVD] (DVD)
Band Camp has taken the jokes and humor from the previous trilogy and jam packed it into this film. In doing this they forgot what made the original American Pie work, the strength and ability to relate to the characters. This film provides occasional laughs and passes the time pleasently enough. However this film should not be asociated with the original trilogy as it does not come close to the standard of teen comedy reached in the previous movies.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stale Pie, 19 July 2006
This review is from: American Pie Presents: Band Camp [DVD] (DVD)
Well most of the seriously funny franchises slowly degenerate until they're but pigmys walking in the shadows of giants - take a look at National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation II, need I say more. American Pie Presents Band Camp unfortunately is no exception. Like all of the weaker siblings this too maintains a character or so from the originally success, the hilarius Eugene Levy reprising his role as Jim's Dad, this time he's a camp counsellor (I wonder what happened to Jim's Mom?) and of course Stifler's little brother.

The idea seems to be sound although the majority of the Band Camp gags seem to have been played out in full in American Pie 1 & 2.

Poor on the whole with the odd flash of high comedy, and on the whole pretty forgettable. As one or two of the other reviewers have demonstrated it will probably appeal to the younger more adolescent audience for its girls and basic humour.

Not a slice of pie that I'll bother to keep, so second hand shop here I come.

1.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING, 4 Nov 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: American Pie Presents: Band Camp [DVD] (DVD)
After viewing this film I was deeply disappointed by what it had to offer. The gags were few and far between and I believe that as a more mature viewer, the idea of Matt Stiffler's to place cameras in the ladies shoewers was intensely childish!! There was far too much concentration on the band performances and the role of Eugene Levy was heavily under utilised. The film was definitely marred by the fact that the original characters such as Jim, Finchy and Steve Stiffler were absent as well and of course Michelle. Definitely don't go to any trouble to watch this latest release!!
