5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Nostalgia and for new kids on the block
Unlike other reviewers, who seem to be die hard fans and have an encyclopaedic knowledge of whether you will get the episodes in the right order etc, which is all good stuff to know if you want that kind of thing, all I remember is that when I was a child I used to sit in front of the television on a Sunday night desperate for the muppets to start. It was a lifesaver of...

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT Uncut...SAME AS REGION 1 DVD'S
Some other reviews mentioned the region 2 dvd's are completely uncut unlike the American region 1 dvd's that have some songs cut for music rights reasons and some sketches cut for reasons unknown. I bought the r2 dvd set based on these reviews having previously purchased the r1's. DON'T BE FOOLED...the same cuts that are in the r1's are also in...

5.0 out of 5 stars Kermit is back!,
This review is from: The Muppet Show: Season One [DVD] [US Import] [Region 1] [NTSC] (DVD)One more to chime in - no booklet!! What the hey - there is a slot for it, but nothing there. Just the four disk, no menu or program, nothing.
The Muppet show was so much fun. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, the Swedish Chef, with a line up of guest starts that include Charles Aznavour, Candice Bergen, Ruth Buzzi, Joel Grey,
Lena Horne, Vincent Price, Twiggy, Peter Ustinov, Paul Williams and more.
Great set, but I really think we should have the missing booklet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Uncut? No way!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)I enjoyed these DVDs but, as said by other customers, the shows are definitely not uncut. There are scenes missing. Charles Aznavour singing "Old fashioned way" for instance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy childhood memories!,
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)I thoroughly enjoyed this edition of the Muppet Show - though I must immediately admit that I didn't purchase my copy from Amazon. Anyhooo, it was really wonderful to relieve old childhood memories while watching the show and I especially appreciated being able to share these with my kids. They absolutely loved "Mopp Ragg" and "the Sausage Dog" song from Discs 1 and 2.
Yes, clearly there are many cut scenes, but this does not distract from the overall enjoyment of the episodes. Animal irritating Rita Moreno during the "Fever" sketch is still one of my favourites. Along with Robin and his step and Kermit singing "It's not easy being green".
It's just sad that the attempt at reviving the show in the 90s just didn't have the same sparkle that Jim Henson wove so perfectly. May he rest in peace. A truly great and talented man was the great Jim Henson! Thank you Jim for the Muppets and the Muppet Show!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Nostalgia You've been waiting for, here at Last!,
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)I just purchased this collection in the U.S. where it has been available for a while, and I can honestly say it is what every muppet fan has been waiting for.
There have been various compilations of best bits in recent years, but here is the whole series of each whole episode in all it's zany, explosive 70's glory.
The great moments from season one are all here - including "Munah Munah", "Lydia the tatooed lady", exploding pickles and Gonzo growing a tomato plant whilst playing the 1812 overture on the violin. Fabulous. The sound is as good as it could possibly get, and the re-mastered picture quality is sharp, fresh and colourful.
I didn't know a few of the 70's guest stars (I think the celebrities got bigger as the seasons went on until they were queing up to get on the show!), but all the acts were brilliant fun. I was paticularly interested to note the gift of an "imitation muppet" given to each guest as a gift at the end of show. This rather unflattering idea seems to have been dropped by episode 4.
My childhood came flooding back.
The Muppet show was the foundation of my style/sense of humour and gave birth to a love of the stage musical which has never gone away. I was getting fed up with way The Muppets have been treated and marketed since Jim Henson's death, but it seems that finally we are being properly reminded of what made the Muppets truly great family entertainment. Roll on season 2!
5.0 out of 5 stars It's time to start the music...,
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)Still as funny and innovative now as it was in the early 1970s. Muppet mayhem that gets better and better with each passing episode.
Sad to say that a lot of the guest stars from this series are no longer with us, and it must have been a nightmare tracking down heirs to get permission for this to be re-released!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant TV,
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)This was in its time brilliant TV and still is. Very enjoyable to watch again. Good enjoyable television and worth watching
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent,
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)I liked this box set and it has about 4 DVDs full of the first eopisodes of The Muppets. I really enjoyed watching this box set and I hope to get the rest of them soon.
5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful,
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)trip down memory lane with this dvd. Forgot how good the muppet shows were until we started watching this with the family even the grumpy teenagers were soon laughing.
5.0 out of 5 stars How could you give a bad review; it's The Muppets.,
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)I spent a long time trying to introduce my kids to The Muppets so I could re-live my childhood. It took a while, but I got there. And to think Bruce Forsyth was a guest of The Muppets in their first season....
5.0 out of 5 stars It's the Muppet Show.... Does it really need a review?,
This review is from: The Muppet Show - Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)The answer to this question is of course no. If you don't already know the Muppet Show then give it a go. If you do already know the show then welcome back to your childhood.
