5.0 out of 5 stars Data Rocks, 20 Dec. 2005
This review is from: Datarock (Audio CD)
Datarock have exploded over in Europe, being rated second only to the legendary Royksopp in many polls, yet they are still to be discovered above ground in the UK which perhaps is a good thing.
To say Datarock have a unique sound would be pretty accurate yet they take their influences from a wide range of music which shows through songs like fast paced, funky breakbeat "fa-fa-fa" and the powerful yet somehow chilled out "Princess".
The album itself is a rarity in new music, being consistantly excellent throughout. Although the album itself is only 40 minutes, the 11 tracks that they have squeezed in are perfectly timed, perfectly excecuted and have enough variety to appeal to almost every music lover from Punk to Jazz.
If you want something to put on at a party, Datarock is it. If you want something to play at home by yourself, Datarock is it. If you own a shop and you need something to play over your speakers that shies away from the norm of the Top Ten, Datarock is it.
All in all a fantastic performance from this relatively unknown band, long may they reign!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 28 May 2007
This review is from: Datarock (Audio CD)
I dont really have much else to say, other than what the other reviewers have already said, but i like it so much i thought i'd add my 2 bob.

This is a funky, funny, dirty album, from start to finish you'll have a grin on your face and feel that lil bit better about things after the 50 or so mins this album lasts.

There isnt one bad song on here, and plenty of variety. Though the stand out track is their single "Fa Fa Fa" - absolute genius. I'm going to see these guys live soon and i cannot wait, and i suggest you come along with me.

...Datarock are going to huge.
I bought the album after listening to their disco-rock track "Fa Fa Fa" on the Annie's DJ Kicks compilation (which is also brilliant by the way).
Datarock's album is, from start to finish, quite brilliant and whilst they remain relatively unknown in the UK it won't be long before they explode.
I predict big things.
