Christian Death under Valor Kand's leadership may have, in recent times, descended into what can only be described as a 'Wannabe Cradle of Filth', but the memories of the most influential of all the U.S. Death rock bands still lingers on. This CD + DVD Retrospective charts the work of what is without a doubt the definitive Christian Death under the leadership of Goth icon and all round renaissance man, the late Rozz Williams.
The CD is a selection of classic tracks such as: 'Dogs', 'Romeo's Distress', 'The Luxury of Tears', 'The Angels (Cruciform)', and 'Psalm (Maggots Lair') - All of which were taken from the Christian Death albums featuring Rozz Williams ('Only Theatre of Pain', 'Catastrophe Ballet', 'Ashes' etc.)
The DVD features a live performance at The Mason Jar from the 14th of January 1990, and a Media Blitz television broadcast of 'Cavity - First Communion' and 'Romeo's Distress' and an interview with the band.
The Mason Jar footage is noticeably low-budget but professionally shot and edited, with album quality audio, which provides an excellent insight into what Rozz's Christian Death was all about. The Media Blitz performance, whilst being professionally shot (and with good quality audio), has noticeably degraded over time, and as such impedes the quality of the footage. However it is still an excellent performance and well worth watching.
Overall the CD is fitting testament to one of the greatest bands ever and the power behind it, and is well worth the hard earned cash of any Rozz Williams / Christian Death fan, or indeed those who want to get a good idea of what the band was about without shelling out for the entire back catalogue.

The relentless rehashing , money making schemes of Cleopatra and the evr present hangers-on(hello cd 1334) of the late great Rozz Williams, is frankly disgusting .They should be hung drawn and quartered.
