What are the best things about this toy?

Well anyone who has had to try to wash crayons or felt tips pens off furniture or walls will know how difficult it can be to get them clean. With this toy you do not have to worry. In effect the 'pen' does not draw on anything but the mat. For me that is a tremendous plus.

Secondly the toy can be quickly folded or rolled up and put away, another big plus. So that's the grown ups sorted out.

For the children it is a magical thing to see something that they have drawn eventually disappear and they end up with a clean mat. This in a way also encourages them to improve their drawing skills. As they get older their drawing improves as they are not copying something they drew a long time ago and think of all the paper that can be saved.

Probably most important of all, toys are for enjoyment and children get lots of pleasure from this one.

My children were delighted when they got this, it became their No.1 toy for a few days... that is until my two-year-old used it as a picnic rug. It took a split second to destroy it by tipping a bag of corn puffs onto the mat. I picked them up very quickly but as soon as they came in contact with the absorbant magic layer it was ruined. There are greasy spots all over it and I have tried everything including ill-advised harsh detergants. Countless cleaning attempts and 3 months later - although just about still usable - the nasty marks are still there and my three-year-old declairs "I can't play with it because it's dirty".

As mentioned by another reviewer the pens are great because they don't damage furnature, carpet or walls. BUT I agree that they pick up dirt very easily and transfer it straight onto the mat.

Wonderful inovation but needs a rethink. If you can't guarantee that all food, drink and sticky fingers will be kept under lock and key when this is in use don't buy it because it is a waste of money.

I bought this aqua draw deluxe only a few weeks ago.... I planned to give it as a gift, my 2 children (2 and 4 years) saw this before I could put it away. It is the best investment I have made, no mess, just plain simple fun........I had to rip it out of their hands after nearly 2 hours of playing with this. For parents with children both young and older this is perfect. As well as been fun it's also educational with letters and numbers to draw over.

This really is a life saver! My son is one and a half and is very creative - unfortunately normally on the walls or on the kitchen cupboards!
A friend recommended Aqua Draw and when I went to buy it I saw it had been updated to Aqua Draw Deluxe. The extra stencils won't be used just yet but they will certainly come in handy in a couple of months time.
I couldn't believe that just by adding water to a pen that you could leave children to draw to their hearts content, not having to worry that they will doodle on the floors or walls. Absolutely brilliant. And to top it all off it folds neatly away.
One other fun idea we had was to put the mat on the floor in the bathroom. Great fun can now be had when getting out the bath - not just for the little one!!

I bought this for my youngest boy who was 2.5, he absolutely loved it, my 7yr old daughter loved it, and even my 11yr old son was seen to be playing with it (when he thought I wasn't looking!).
If you're like me, and like your children to be creative, but without the mess, then this is for you. You fill the 'pens' with water and as kid draws over the special mat, the picture appears. There is absolutely no mess whatsoever, and the most they can do is get a bit of water out of the pen on something, but no ink to stain clothes etc. This is just a fabulous buy and whoever thought of it deserves the biggest medal ever. I will be buying more for other children's birthdays !

I got this for my daughter's first birthday and it's been brilliant. The only grump i've got about it is if you have older kids and they fold it up when it's wet then it's mould everywhere!! I had to throw it out and get another one. Great for mess free play though

Absolute nightmare to keep clean, completely agree with the other 2 reviewers who have pointed out that it will be ruined if cant guarantee your toddler will no eat ANYTHING near it and will only use the pen on the mat.

Had it less than a month and its ruined had the same problem with the juice cup as the other reviewer pointed out once they know its water they will try in use their cups to make it all turn blue

We bought Tomy Aqua Draw Deluxe for our 18 month old daughter as a Christmas present and she adores it. Her 4 year old sister loves it too - especially the stencil kit. No mess, lots of fun and easy to transport.

With regards to some disgruntled purchasers who have tested the mats durability with sticky food and dirt (something my children haven't attempted yet) I would suggest new purchasers adhere to these messages for future reference as I will be doing.

For the price it is great value for money. Only uses water so you don't have to go cleaning up all the colouring on their hands, carpet, chairs, walls, etc.

Bought this for my 17 month old son and he loves it, so does my 3 year old daughter, great for writing on for alphabet practice, also great fun for adults to share with children as there are 2 big chunky pens included (can also use the pens from the mini aquadraw kids). Very good value for money, I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else.

Still works after 3years definitely worth a buy.
