5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Lee Van Cleef, you'll love this
Good film - all a bit hammmed up but Lee Van Cleef pays the part of the moody gunman very well. Very enjoyable, but a bit stilted

This is a movie which leaves you wondering just exactly what is the mighty Lee Van Cleef doing getting involved in such poor quality material. The story is quite basic (Irish family running a small city and overtaxing the people in the name of progress while secretly ripping them off), but it meanders all over the place with several difficult to follow sub-plots, unecessary scenes which belong on the cutting room floor, and enough distractions to keep you pressing pause while you try to work out their relevance. A couple of the actors from 'Sabata' make another appearance in different roles ('alleycat' for instance) but the dialogue, the editing, the continuity, the gunfighting and the feasibility of the plot are laughable at best. All this is backed up by a pretty upbeat and catchy soundtrack which appears now and then just to keep you intersted.
In one scene, a pointless shootout with some previously unseen (and unexplained) henchmen, the contiunity was so laughable you could even see one actor discussing a broken prop (his bass drum) with someone just out of shot!!!
Lee Van Cleef makes this movie, and steals every scene with his screen prescence, without him it would be worth watching only to remind yourself how appalling the Spaghetti Western genre can be when compared to the likes of the great Sergio Leone.
I gave this movie 2 stars ONLY because Lee Van Cleef held it together from start to finish as only he can. If you like your westerns 'tongue-in-cheek' and can live with the cheesy 1960's low budget feel, then its worth watching just for a laugh, but do'nt be under any impression it's going to be in the same solar system as The Good The Bad and The Ugly. It would'nt even scratch the surface.

Expected a better story/script. I watched the film, and probably watch it again and get some enjoyment.
well far from being a classic.

I love westerns of all periods, especially spaggetti westerns; but even a die hard fan of Lee van Cleef- fell asleep watching this...very slow moving, yawn.

This was an okay Italian Western. Not sure if I enjoyed it more than the first Sabata film or not. Always liked Lee Van Cleef in westerns so had to add it to my list.
