I love this game. I think it's good to have a star wars game that involves being but one of a huge armies, instead of just being a main character. There are 4 different types of troop, a soldier; with a rifle, a pistol, thermal detonaters (work on troops) and concussion grenades (work on vehicles). There is a rocket launcher; with a rocket launcher, a pistol, mines and some thermal detonaters. A sniper; with a sniper rifle, a pistol, a recon droid, and some thermal detonaters. A pilot with either a blaster cannon, a shock blaster or a grenade launcher; a pistol, a fusion cutter for repairing stuff, and health and ammo packages. There is also a special unit for each team. For the republic, there is the jet trooper, with jet packs, an emp launcher, a pistol, and some thermal detonators. For the Separatists there is the droideka, with rolling abilities, twin blasters and a shield. For the rebels there is the Wookiee smuggler, which is tough, has a bowcaster, a grenade launcher, and time bombs. For the empire there is the dark trooper with jump jets, a blast cannon, a pistol, and some thermal detonators. Also, on the best mode galactic conquest, on singleplayer, being the Seps is called revenge of the sith, but this game came out before episode 3. It is quite an easy game but, as I said, galactic conquest is just awsome. In short i love it. The force is strong in this one.

I purchased this at full price and have always felt that it was money well spent. Now on Platinum, SW:BF is cracking value-for-money.
Plus points:
1) Wonderful atmosphere -- the locations and battle participants are well rendered and recreated. The soundtrack is second-to-none, with the Williams scores used to operatic effect. Battles are busy affairs -- there are always a good number of foes on screen at any time. The Star Wars universe is fully utilised.
2) The player-on-player and co-operative action is great fun and played at a pace. If you have a friend who is a Star Wars fan, you'll get sucked into playing this for hours and hours.
Negative points:
1) The single player campaigns just don't have the same lasting appeal as the 2 player action. It's still all about "capture the flag/eliminate all enemies".
2) Map difficult is inconsistent: You'll be jacking the game's difficulty up to Hard quite quickly, but some of the maps are deliberately juiced-up in favour of one-side or the other, and although this means you'll have a long-term challenge, it can become frustrating.
Other points:
1) The control system is good IMO.
2) Enemy AI never seems to be an issue -- although they're always gung-ho, they don't seem to act bizarrely and their hit-rates always seem fair.
3) Unlike SW:BF2, you can't play the big Jedi characters, which is a shame, but they do make appearances on the battlefield. You do however get the chance to drive Imperial Walkers...
Conclusion:
If you're a gamer with a buddy and 2 controllers, SW:BF is an excellent purchase on Platinum.

hi. hey. hello. hi
Now i got this fantastic game last christmas (2005) i't still amuses me now. Clone wars has to be the best because u can fly with one of the clones, the c.i.s are good too because with the destroyers you can form a shield around yourself easily and the enemy finds it hard to kill you.
On historicle camaign it is good ,but only if you have a cheat to unlock all planets (works with Galatic civil war and clone wars) the cheat to unlock all planets is sircle square sircle square sircle square...keep typing that in till you hear a ringing type of bleep

Star Wars Battlefront, to start off with, was an excellent game with tense fighting in a battlefield on one of many planets from acroos the Star Wars galaxy. I definitly didn't think it wasn't value for money when i bought it for £30. It was action-packed and fun going around with your team in the various vehicles or on foot, killing enemy soldiers.
However, even when i had the game on the hardest setting (hard), the singleplayer game did not last me more than a week or so. It's easy to master and the AI is not very intelligent. It does not reflect the movie battle scences, where you have to hide and fight your way to victory with no easy kills. I could just roam around and, in the end, kill up to 60 or 70 people from the other side having only been killed several times myself. The game is therefore too easy and there is not much to it in terms of levels that are hard, or a decent amount of levels for that matter. Each level also has the same objective - kill all enemy soldiers. The campaigns should atleast have some other objectives you can follow.
The graphics, on my TV anyway, were far from what i hoped for. This game would have a lot better graphics on a PC.
The interface was easy and simple - very easy to get to grips with and the controls are simple enough to.
Multiplayer and online gaming is a different story on the other hand. It is very fun to play multiplayer on SWB as the game is designed mainly for multiplayer. I'd suggest playing it on a big TV screen, as the splitting of the screen does get too small for preference. Online gaming is even better. This is mainly because you are playing against other human opponents that give you a fair match.
So, in conclusion, this game is fun but very easy and lacking singleplayer. For mulyiplayer, it will always be fun. I would recommend buying this game, as it is cheap now in Platinum, and if you want to play lots of multiplayer then this is certainly worth it.

After a refund from Lord of the Rings:The third age, Star wars battlefront was the only available new game I came across so I chanced and bought it. After playing on it for only a few seconds I could not believe how good graphics and gameplay was.
You really felt like you were in a battle. With all the fighting going on around you, it created an atmosphere within the game like one I have never came across before. I have played on it for 3 months and still play on it now. It is really cool how you can be a pilot of any vehicle or even be a co-pilot while your team-mate, pilots for you where you can bark orders at him to tell to him get out or to move on.
Whats even more cooler is how you can take over a planet and get a bonus from it, one of which is that you can get Jedi's to help you and watch them slice and dice through your opposition. There are other bonuses like secondary reinforcements, bacta tanks(tanks of medicine),sabotage(automatically destroy your enemys vehicles from start to finsh) and there are other bonus's. All in all this game is the best I have bought for value and games, I cannot wait for battlefront 2 to come out. If you like star wars you have GOT to get this game.

Have you ever wanted the empire to defeat the rebels on endor? Or have the droids win against the clones? In this game you can do just that.
The game is conquest based, so to win you have to either eliminate all the enemy troops or get all of the command posts.
I thought the game was good, but having played battlefront 2 first I can only give this four stars.
But this is still a great game, with four playable factions, with 5 different troops in each faction, 16 maps and lots of vehicles to use, this is one of the best star wars games there is.

This game, was my childhood and i recently tried to play it on my PS2 but unfortunately it was broken. I bought another copy (obviously) and then went back on it during a LAN party with friends and had a really good time. I also played it after they left on my own and it was still an amazing game. To think i originally bought it for £25 but it's now £5 definitely worth it. Why are you still reading this review go buy it now!!! Buy a PS2 if you have to just get it!
