4.0 out of 5 stars Baby And The Satellite
If you like Micah P Hinson then i don't see how you can not like this album. It isn't (and wasn't intended to be) a follow up to Gospel Of Progress, and as a collection of old songs inevitably sounds thinner and therefore more raw and less cinematic than either of his two full length albums, but this doesn't make it a bad record in it's own right. If anything it's a...

2.0 out of 5 stars A record company idea gone wrong.
Hinson's debut 'The gospel of progress' was stunning. Great singing - an almost perfect vocal delivery sounding like someone 20 years his senior. The songs were pretty damn good too. This follow up looses the momentum and at best sounds like a mini album of b-sides. Hinson's voice is tired here - he almost sounds bored - running through songs that he wrote years ago. A...

If anything it's a chance to hear his sound emerging, and there are some lovely songs on here.

If you don't have a Hinson record, then buy either (i'd suggest both) of the other two. Then when you've listened to them constantly for weeks and are hooked, come back and buy this. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Micah P Hinson - with a concept riff, 19 Dec 2013

I think The Baby & The Satellite is a great example of Hinson's oeuvre. It is a very emotive album but keeps just outside the realms of cheesy despite it imitate style. What I like are the repetitive riffs and chords with varying melody lines between songs it has a grim and uncompromising energy. Elements of earlier songs are referred to later in album. There are some great "bridges" between verses rather than choruses.

Hinson reminds of the late JJ Cale meeting Neil Young in his after "Gold Rush" days - I would highly recommend this Album.

This is an excellent record, truly amazing and absolutely on a par with Gospel and Opera Circuit. Buy It! Forget what this guy below says....The Leading Guy is Micah's best song!

A record company idea gone wrong. It spoils the anticipation of a follow up, so I feel this is an attempt to cash in on the success of 'Gospel.
On a positive note - the inclusion of the original demos in full is a nice touch.
