4.0 out of 5 stars From the sublime to the ridiculous!
Having attended the concert, I was keen to get the DVD as a momento of the show, and it provides a good representation of what happened on the night. Overall a great gig, with Gary Moore, Joe Walsh and Dave Gilmour providing the showcase performances that befit the type of event this was intended to be.

There are numerous questions to ask, however:-...

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Concert, not the best Bluray
This is superb concert that I can enjoy watching from start to finish or just dip in and out to my favourite parts.

I have owned the DVD version of this for a couple of years now and many of my friends have bought it too. I managed to borrow the Bluray version to compare it to the DVD and frankly it isn't worth it the upgrade if you already have the DVD. A good...

1.0 out of 5 stars The strat pack fails, 1 Jun 2010

Interested as I am in the famous Stratocaster and its players, I of course bought this Blu Ray (DVD). To cut a long story short: only the comments about the guitar are of value. The concerts themselves are not really worth watching. And what on earth has Brian May to do with the Strat? Nothing, nothing at all. And Jamie Callum plays the piano.
This concert features some of the worst performances I have seen in recent years. Surely they must have watched it back. I wouldn't put my lousy singing in a video tape, let alone a Blu Ray.
Total waste of money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Strat Pack? .. They're 'aving a larf !, 28 Sep 2007
This review is from: The Strat Pack: 50th Anniversary Of The Fender Strat [DVD] [2005] (DVD)
Be prepared to use your remote control skip button on this .... A LOT.

If most of these performances were representative of the Strat it would never have been in a position to have 5th Aniversary let alone a 50th.
Amy Winehouse? Jamie Cullum? Theresa Anderson? Paul Rodgers kids? Get real. Even Brian May is noted for NOT using a strat.
This DVD is 80% trash and even Gary Moore and Dave Gilmour great as they perform cannot make this good value or an entertaining experience.
I thoroughly recommend you DO NOT but this. RIP-OFF would be high up on my list of adjectives.

3.0 out of 5 stars A few gems, 2 Jun 2005

A few random points having watched this DVD.

Albert Lee's playing on Country Boy is phenomenal. Will definitely be checking more of his work out. Joe Walsh and David Gilmour's parts are fantastic

I can't believe Gary Moore was only given one song on the DVD (his rendition of Red House is absolutely amazing) and Paul Rodgers gets to sing on four tracks!!

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Free, but Mr Rodgers does get irritating by the second track by bringing his children on for a song!! Listen to the audiences reaction by giving a half hearted clap as they walk on stage. He even yelps and hollers over Brian May's guitar solo on All Right Now. Shut up!!

During the final song on the DVD, things start getting embarrassing. All the artists are pushed on stage with their Fenders, most looking quite uncomfortable. The backing singers are handed Strats to mime with, and judging by their strumming and chord shapes have never held a guitar in their lives.

Should have been a great DVD but sadly contains too many fast forward artists and songs.

I bought this as a 'stocking filler' for my hubby, not sure what to expect as some of the music stuff and concerts on blu ray are dire to say the least. This is exceptional, it has been played numerous times already, great quality, great artists.

I was unaware this dvd was out there until I reccently borrowed it off a mate of mine.A really good tribute to fender, but no sign of "the fender Man" eric clapton which was a shame, would have been the iceing on the cake, guess he was unavailable at the time.A good variety here to keep you watching, like Hank Marvin who looked like he had stepped out of the tardis, hes aged well, looked just like he did in the 60,s nice touch with his son on guitar,Amy winehouse mumbled through a track I didnt know, pitty as I liked Amy.Paul Rogers as good on vocals as ever,The highlight for me was PaulCarrack exellent vocals, along with Andy fairweather low doing a version of george harrisons "while my guitar gently weeps",and "all along the watchtower",something here for everyones tastes really .Ronnie Wood leads the gang at the finalie with "the Faces".."stay with me"long live rock n roll.

What a fantastic concert. I first saw part of this concert on TV but missed most of it. In order to see it all I purchased it on DVD and I am very glad I did. This concert is so good that I also bought a copy for my brother.
