5.0 out of 5 stars The Hogfather., 27 Nov. 2013

The Sicillian mafia get peeved at Don Ricuzzo Cantimo (the new American Don about town), for smuggling his heroin into Sicily inside the dead bodies of children, so they assign whistling stone killer Aniante to the job of getting rid. Aniante is a violent, professional hitman, who wastes no time at all in going straight after the gang boss, by playing him off against another gangster within a remote region of Sicily...

If you like misogyny, awful suits, sadism and brutal 70s action, you're in for a treat here!
Henry Silva stars as Aniante, sweating what appears to be Newcastle Brown Ale, as he steam rollers over gangsters heads and plays crown green bowls on the worst lawn this side of down~town Fallujah! Silva has never looked or acted more menacing, with his ugly skull~head, looking like he's been given a rather dodgy treatment of botox, down the back side alley of a disreputable kebab shop! Barbara Bouchet fellates a banana for all she's worth and still he sodomizes her against the carcass of a hanging pig, then for an encore tries his best to cut her whorish soul out, using only his belt! What a total toe rag Silva is in this, possibly playing his nastiest role ever, with the empty eyes of a Great White shark and a sickopathic, woman hating mean~streak a mile wide. Which wouldn't be so bad, if he wasn't meant to be the hero of the piece. . . well kind of!

I suppose you can't really expect much else from director Bianchi (Strip Nude For Your Killer and Burial Ground etc), who tries to ham fistedly give the audience everything they're salivating for in the genre ~ with bells on, whilst not only nicking bits of plot lines from several Shakespeare plays, but also several other popular films from the era. Either way, dull it is not, and even though this may not be the greatest poliziotteschi/mafia movie ever, it certainly tries hard to deliver the rough and tumble..

The Televista dvd is heavily cut as far as I am aware. Henry Silva fans will no doubt be in hogs heaven either way.

4.25/5 At least for the trashy exploitation it is

4.0 out of 5 stars the finest film he ever directed, 1 Nov. 2014

Italian-American Hitman Tony Aniante has been hired to take take of two rival gangs. One is traditional Italian Mafia family and the is an Americanized godfather who has been deported back from the United States. He slowly begins to play each one off against the other, but he also has some hidden agendas of his own.

I wouldn't really call this film a Poliziotteschi as there isn't any police and the film is set around the Mafia so it fits well into the Eurocrime genre. Anyway no matter what genre you want to place this film in you can't deny that it is a brutal piece of Italian cinema that will shock you from start to finish.

The director was the sleaze master Andrea Bianchi who made films such as Strip Nude for Your Killer and Confessions of a Frustrated Housewife, which you can tell by the names of the titles he wasn't going to get many Oscar nominations. Here he creates his masterpiece, the finest film he ever directed.

Henry Silva puts in one of his finest performances as Tony Aniante the ruthless hitman who maybe the protagonist but his actions make him worse than the men he assigned to kill. In one scene he watches Barbara Bouchet wash herself in milk and it looks as though he has fallen in love, however this couldn't be more from the truth. When she comes onto him he violently sodomizes her and then the next time she comes back for more, he brutally whips her with his belt then rapes her. These aren't the only violent acts on screen, we have a man been decapitated when his car crashes into a digger and then we have endless amounts of blood in the violent shoot-outs.

Sante Maria Romitelli's music only makes the film that bit more enjoyable. His music adds emotion to the none talking scenes and gives it a operatic feel. One of his best.

Overall a very enjoyable film but not for the easily offended.
