3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT NOT FOR DYING
Naim presumes of simplicity - a pair of 2 old microphones vintage 1978; an analogic magnetophone AKG Nagra VI; etc - in order to achieve maximun sound purity toogether with realistic soundstage. This is an old formula very utilized by many audiophile brands and, in MMPOV, with results not allways at the level of their pretensions. Yes, there's for instance a clear sense...

Had not even considered this recording format until recently reading an article about True Stereo and using it to test your own hifi set up.
Very impressed with the recording almost feels like the group are in the same room with you!
Recommend you listen to this unprocessed format to see how well your hifi equipment is set up and reproduces the recording.

A great disc to use if you are planning to buy new HiFi equipment or what to test out and evaluate your own equipment. If ripped to FLAC they could also be used to demo and evaluate digital media players. The quality of the recording is superb and certainly gives a good indication of how stereo is reproduced by the system you are playing it on.

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT NOT FOR DYING, 5 April 2014

Naim presumes of simplicity - a pair of 2 old microphones vintage 1978; an analogic magnetophone AKG Nagra VI; etc - in order to achieve maximun sound purity toogether with realistic soundstage. This is an old formula very utilized by many audiophile brands and, in MMPOV, with results not allways at the level of their pretensions. Yes, there's for instance a clear sense of depth and wide of the stage, but at the same time and in many ocations, with a lost of sound closeness and bright, producing to me a sensation that some instrumentists are too far away side to side, and front to back and so the sound becomes unnantural and litle gloomy. I'm not a fanatic of this kind of recordings so I lack the expertise to evaluate many discs, but in my short listening background I was only impressed by some of the direct cut vinyls of Shefied Lab in the 80's...but now we are in 2011.

Moreover, I can't understand why the need of recording over analogic equipment, when finally the information has to be converdet to digital and then to analogic again, Sincerally, I do think that there are other approaches to high end audio recordings, more in consonance with the vast available digital equipment in present days.
