'Restless and Wild' is a great album. Each track is good, with some of them being exceptional, especially 'Princess of the Dawn', 'Restless and Wild', and 'Fast as s Shark'. Check them out on You Tube and you'll see what I mean: great riffs, melodic guitar solos, and pumping rhythms drive this album.

This is Accept on the way to their best (Metal Heart and Russian Roulette). If you're new to Accept, you might need some time to adapt to Dirkschneider's voice, but maybe not because he is certainly distinctive. Classic Metal. If you know about Accept (German metal Gods from the 1980s), then you know what I am writing about. If you're new to Accept, 'Restless and Wild' is a good album to start off with. You'll enjoy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great back then - perhaps showing its age these days., 19 Feb 2007
This review is from: Restless And Wild (Audio CD)
This album has earned its legendary status on the backs of 2 unusually good tracks. These are the riff-tastic last track, Princess of the Dawn, and the opening shredder, Fast as a Shark.

In between, though it hurts a bit to say it, the songs probably sound a little dated these days, even though only 2 are disappointing musically.

The bread and butter of the album is good, solid, melodic, but hard-edged 80s Heavy Metal. Structurally the songs are fairly simple, with verse and chorus distinctly seperate. Udo, God love him, sings a bit like an angry Mini-Me would - and although perhaps a bit of an acquired taste, adds a unique character to the Accept sound. The other part of the Accept sound - the guitars - have rarely sounded more natural - raw and seemingly untouched by the producer. It is almost as though each string was recorded individually.

For my money this, as a whole, is a great album, but to truly love it, you possibly had to grow up with it.

I only heard a small amount of Accepts early and middle period albums.i must say i missed a treat.I've played this album a few times and it is great.Apart from Fast as a shark the other track that i really enjoy is Princess of the dawn a slow brooding powerful song. The album for me has some parallels of The Scorpions Saxon and Judas Priest.Altogether a fine collection of songs that get the head moving!

I bought this for the amazing track:fast as a shark. Restless and Wild is great too, as are a couple of others. A essential addition to any 80's rock collection.

Please ignore what the other reviewer has put - this is one of the greatest heavy metal albums ever recorded, and whether you're coming to it fresh or not, for any true heavy metal lover it's an absolute hands-down classic. Although the title track of the successor, 'Balls to the Wall' has become the track Accept are (these days) famous for, overall this album ranks higher on quality. There is simply no weak moment on the entire album.
It starts with the blasting power metal of 'Fast as a Shark', followed by the anthemic title track, which in turn is followed by the equally anthemic 'Ahead of the Pack' - there are few, if any, better heavy metal tunes to get up and feel great to. The rest of the album maintains the top quality, alternating the moods - there's a couple of semi-ballads, which, although you'd perhaps not expect it, Udo is surprisingly good at. His voice is at his best on this album, and it's matched by the irresistibly catchy gang yells in the background, the guitars which have an amazingly good production for the time (1982 - and for any time for that matter), and the drums which never miss a beat.
If you're new to Accept, there's no better place to start (though it's a toss up between this and 'Balls to the Wall'), and if you're not new to Accept, why don't you have this record?!
