5.0 out of 5 stars Album of the Year (so far), 16 Aug 2005

This review is from: Odyssey [Bonus Tracks] (Audio CD)
Fiscerspooner's first album (#1) was exactly what the genre of 'Electro' really needed to bring it into the limelight. That it did (to some extent). Odyssey takes it all to another level. This album is without a doubt the best all round Electronica album I have ever heard. Literally every song is beyond belief as they combine unique melody and bass with Spooner's distinct vocals. Quite simply a must for all.

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Spring Clean', 14 April 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Odyssey [Bonus Tracks] (Audio CD)
I was a big fan of Fisherspooner's #1 and in all honesty had only heard the most popular track 'Emerge' until about six months ago when I listened to the rest of their debut.
#1 had an unclean & dare I say it dirty feel about it.
Using the mix of synth, the occasional deep breath and climax of their songs to create a gritty 'here we are' feel about the album.
When I heard their latest album release 'Odyssey' I was shocked to find an altogether cleaner, more cohesive sound.
(Whether Fischerspooner are attempting to appeal to a wider audience with their latest, I'm not sure.)
This album is different but, change is not always a bad thing!
The first track 'Just Let Go' is most likely to be the most popular for listening and play in the club scene.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still far more interesting than the majority, 1 April 2006

This review is from: Odyssey [Bonus Tracks] (Audio CD)
This is a well produced and intuitive record which builds on the work of the first album. I found it wasn't as endlessly listenable as the first, but still grows and changes as you listen more and more, which different tracks becoming your favourite with each listen. A lot going on beneath the surface. Utterly supberb for the car on a sunny day.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fischerspoonfull of good music, 19 Aug 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Odyssey [Bonus Tracks] (Audio CD)
Like another reviewer, I was not overly impressed with the debut album - there are excellent remixes of Emerge and Invisible but they can't carry a whole album by themselves. This album is much better all round, is more accessible and has merit in any musical context.
The highlights, in my opinion, are 'We Need a War' - which is an anti-war ditty concisely describing the raison d'etre of the current actions in the Middle East - 'Get Confused' - is in the form of an internal conversation which is carried off successfully and without causing any cringing.
Certainly worth owning.
