5.0 out of 5 stars Comdey that was funny, 18 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: 2 Point 4 Children: The Complete Series Two [DVD] (DVD)
The trouble with modern TV comedy is that is just is not funny.. ( grumpy old man speaking here...)
THIS on the other hand is excellent: remember it well first time round
Characters are well acted, plots good. Gary Olsen is much missed.

2 Point 4 Children is a wonderful sitcom. It is an absolute shame that it never made it over to the States. I had the privilege of seeing it on BBC when I was in Germany. I was immediately hooked.

I have purchased a Region Free, PAL/NTSC converter DVD player for the express purpose of watching this show (best 25 pounds/50 dollars I ever spent). Now I have the whole family hooked.

This represents the typical British family (though American families aren't that far removed from the Potters), thus the title 2 Point 4 Children. This group shares a lot of the fun and pains that occur in my family.

While this boxset may not have a lot of extras, it is still worth the price. As of right now, Series 1 - 3 are out (21Aug2006). Hopefully, Series 4 - 9 aren't far behind.

the second series of this long running sitcom about the porter family sees them pick up where the first series left off.even more funny than the first series and dealing with more serious issues such as bullimia.not surprising that it ran for 9 years judging by this.

Bill and Ben are back for another series of 2 Point 4 Children, a sit com based on the lives of a family, Bill, a housewife and Ben a central heating repairman. Two kids David who's a little monster and typical 14-year-old Jenny.

This series is quite miserable in many ways, with David getting tetanus and Bill loosing her fantasy man, but otherwise there's some good wholesome comedy here. I especially enjoyed the bit where Ben had a fight with a man on a dual-carriageway and then has to race him in a wheelchair!

The main appeal of the show has to be Belinda Lang's dry wit and her sarcasm. It's funny when Jenny tells her "sarcasm is the lowest form of wit", but she couldn't be further than wrong with Bill, she's funny - the best moment being in the Job Centre where she winds this assistant up no end. If it wasn't for the dry wit, this show wouldn't be that popular.

This series has no extras to speak of except for the christmas special where they go to Bill's mum. Otherwise this is quite a poor fare, but the last series was no better. The main focus is that we're finally getting these episodes on DVD, and the picture and sound quality are not too bad, better than the VHS editions that came out yonks ago.

I would suggest though you buy the 1-3 boxset, as this is rather overpriced for what it is.

I think 2 point 4 children is a great comedy I think it is highley amusing and it must of been well writen scripts. The best Episode on series two is when bens father comes to visit and he is left to do the painting. The actors are all good in thier own way like ben is a big kid .Bill is the head of the household as she takes charge all the time.Jenny and David are funny in thier own way like David is into gory videos and his sister Jenny is more into boys.I whould highley recomend this dvd and also recomend series 3/1.
