DOOM spits 30-something minutes of heat on this live-recording without taking a breath. A must for any DOOM fan who, like me, would love to see Metal Face in the 'flesh' (tin?).
The DJ barely let's DOOM rest between tracks, switching beats and challenging the underground MC to keep up. Recorded before the release of Madvillainy or MM.. Food, this is a great opportunity to check out some of the early work that solidified his God-like status on the underground (joints like Rhymes Like Dimes from the rare Operation: Doomsday album will blow you away). After dropping an exclusive, pre-release rendition of 'One Beer' from MM.. Food, DOOM sounds so amped at the quality of the Madlib beat that he sounds like a fan; "I had to rip this. This beat is retarded!". It's nice to know he's as excited as I am about his groundbreaking music.
The only downside is that it's pretty short, and there's minimal crowd-noise that would recreate the feel of being at the show itself (although this may be a good thing as all the lyrics come through loud and clear).
In all, a must for any MF DOOM fan, and a nice raw introduction for the uninitiated.
