You can see where John has got his influences from. This music does reflect the style John plays now.

Lots of melody and tight bass lines, all uplifting stuff.

Sounds like sets John would play in the 90s.

If you like John's early stuff then this is for you. Not a bad track in the album.

Oh Mr Digweed, how you keep doing this to us? Once again, our fine ambassador for dance music has become apart of a spectacular release of classics that, accordingly, "represent the sounds that influenced" him during the earliest days of his career. Indeed, the product is worthy alone for its excellent booklet that gives a rare biography of the man from Hastings and how he went from working in a bar to playing alongside some of the most famous DJs to grace four decks and a mixer.

But this release isn't about technical skills in the traditional sense. Mixing is kept to the absolute minimum (sometimes, not present at all) as Digweed aims to present the tracks in a more faithful manner so that the listener can get a better sense of the production values. And that just about sums up what this series is all about - appreciation. We are so saturated these days with 'dance music' and plodding beats that it has almost become noise for the everyday soundtrack to our lives, from shops to TV commercials. Digweed demonstrates why he has become one of the most revered DJs and producers of the past twenty years because he has been able to sift through the rubbish and lay down only the best work compositions.

To continue doing so these days is exceptionally brave, but an album like 'Choice' will give the listener a chronological sense of not just how dance music itself has transformed, but how those productions that have influence the man have also done so. Every track is wonderfully unique, and clearly sound as though they've just been slapped on a platter on let go. Little clean up work has been done - just vinyl in their original forms.

If you can appreciate Digweed's talents, then you'll probably leave the album asking more questions... Just how large is this guys collection, and seriously, what would I do to take a peak at it? That is perhaps the only downside to 'Choice', that for all the other releases by other artists, they have been somewhat flat in comparison to this effort. Digweed could literally take ownership of the series and just continue to compile in the same fashion as this very release.

'Choice' is not going to be to everyone's taste. Unless you have the patience, initially, to sit down and recognise some of the awesome production values, this album could pass you by as being boring and nothing special. If you actively take an interest in music histories and like Digweed, then 'Choice' offers both a biography and an uplifting experience in one package.

For Any John Digweed Fan, This is a must Have CD. Some Absolute Gems on here, Compiled to perfection full of great tracks that have helped shape and influence this master of the decks and clubs. Really Interesting to see where he gets his choice of music and where he came from and the time in which he rose to fame.

I listen to this album all the time, both Cd's are really worth a listen, and if you have ever been to the end of some of his sets in clubs you will see and hear the tracks on here that he so loves so much. He finishes with The Cure - A Forest - just brilliant how it amkes it all gell, mold and work throughout.

John Digweed - I Salute You!!!
