4.0 out of 5 stars A very influential film
Little Caesar, made in 1931, was released only a few months before The Public Enemy with James Cagney, and together they set the standard that all future crime films would be judged. Edward G Robinson takes the acting honours by miles with a mesmerising performance as Rico.

The film is is clearly influenced by the life of Al Capone, and Chicago in general in...

3.0 out of 5 stars period gangster movie
One of Warners classic gangster movies starring Edward G Robinson in his famous roll of "Rico" R-I-C-O thats Rico, plenty of action and shootings, unfortunately this movie isn't the usual top quality transfer that we have come to love and expect from Warners this is the only reason I've only given 3 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars I Come to Praise Caesar, 12 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Little Caesar [DVD] [1931] (DVD)
"Mother of mercy, is this the end of Rico?" must rank as one of the most memorable last lines ever spoken in a movie, along with "I steal" and "Made it Ma, top of the world!". All three from Warner Bros. classics.

Edward G Robinson's "Little Caesar" isn't a great film, as the commentary states, but Robinson commands the screen, and the viewer's attention throughout. Some of the gangsters' moves and mannerisms might seem a bit farcical to a modern audience, but the skill with which Warners' turned out these monochrome gems is undeniable.

Good support from Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic Gangster Film, 27 Dec 2012

This review is from: Little Caesar [DVD] [1931] (DVD)
Little Caesar is one of the classic early Gangster Movies that was produced by Warner Brothers. Edward G Robinson plays Rico who climbs the criminal ladder from foot soldier to gang boss only to lose it all in the end.

As good as the James Cagney gangster films such as The Public Enemy [DVD][1931] and White Heat [1949] Little Caesar is worthy of your consideration.

This DVD edition also contains the special feature Warner Night at the Movies with an introduction by Film Critic Leonard Maltin & a Documentary about the making of the Film.
