The Simpsons crime files
on 7 January 2016
Like all of the entries in the popular 'Simpsons Classics DVD series, 'Crime and Punishment' was originally released as a VHS, which is the reason why the disc only contains four episodes. For a few extra pounds, you can now purchase one of the boxsets.
As the title would suggest already, 'Crime and Punishment' contains four crime-themed episodes of the show: 'Marge in Chains' (season 4, 1993), 'Homer the Vigilante' (season 5, 1994), 'Bart the Fink' (season 7, 1996), and the fan favourite 'You Only Move Twice' (season 8, 1996), which ends out with possibly the most catchy 'Simpsons' song of all time as the credits roll. I love each and everyone of these beautifully scripted episodes, and can watch them over and over, without ever tiring.
The first film sees Marge being sent down to prison after being convicted for shoplifting at Apu's Kwik-E-Mart, and the characters she meets inside are wonderful. The second finds Homer trying to track down a cat-burglar who is terrorising Springfield, and the culprit is a great character who I would ever much like to see pop up again. The third episode stars Krusty the Clown, whose biggest fan Bart sends to jail, and in the final, fans are introduced to the loveable, but extremely dangerous criminal mastermind Hank Scorpio, who plans to take over the world.
This compilation offers countless laughs with The Simpsons at their peak, and at a budget price.
