5.0 out of 5 stars Great Simpsons collection!!
If you collect the classic Simpsons DVDs then this one should definitely be around the top of your list! It has some great episodes on it and is only really ruined by how annoying Lisa is in Lisa the vegeterian.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly disappointing, but still some classic episodes
If this video was a doughnut, it would probably be a chocolate one that had dried out a bit and gone off its best. There's a couple of brilliant episodes on this (including the one where Mr Burns sells the power plant to the Germans), and the one where Homer gains 150lbs just so he can work from home.

If you collect the classic Simpsons DVDs then this one should definitely be around the top of your list! It has some great episodes on it and is only really ruined by how annoying Lisa is in Lisa the vegeterian.
Look who's coming to criticise dinner?: This a great episode which sees Homer do the job he ws born to do. When he walks off on the school feild trip he helped out on he goes to a leaving party for the newspaper's food critic. They see how good he is and he gets the chance to fill out a job application. Ofcourse he mucks it up and therefore seeks Lisa's help. They do well but eventuallly it goes wrong, all in hilarious Simpson fashion! 10/10
King-Size Homer: This story has another strange quest Homer goes on, tgis time he has to gain loads of weight so he can work at home. Once again his laziness gets the better of him and things go wrong at the plant, but this time he's at home and he has to get there in time to save everyone! The way he does it is funny and ironic. A memorable episode. 10/10
Burns Ver Kaufen Der Kraftwork: This one may have been a bit old and too familiar to the people who buy this DVD. It's still an alright episode though. Mr Burns sells the plant to Germans to seek a more relaxing life. The new bosses are alot more strict and Homer is immediately fired. Things go wrong for Burns to and after getting booed out of Moes Tavern by Homer, Bart and other drunks he realizes that he needs power and buys the plant back, the Germans only sell it because it's falling apart! 8/10
Lisa the Vegetarian: I'll be honest and say that this episode is typically ruined by Lisa and her morals. She decides to become a vegetarian and ruins a barbecue Homer throws. After getting shouted at she runs away and meets Paul and Lina McCartney with Apu and realizes that she shouldn't eat meat but she also shouldn't try and ruin it for everyone else. The only thing that saves it is Homer's funny moments. 6/10

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good Simpsons DVD, 8 July 2007
This review is from: The Simpsons: Raiders Of The Lost Fridge [DVD] (DVD)
This DVD is a mixture of good and bad."Guess who's coming to criticise dinner"and "King Size Homer" are both brilliant episodes, a couple of the best Simpsons there are.

Whereas, on the other hand the other not so good episodes in my opinion are "Lisa the vegetarian"and"Burns ver kaufen der kraftwork", so overall a very mixed DVD.

The episodes and rating I would give them:
"Guess who's coming to criticise dinner" wher Homer becomes his most desirable job for him, a food critic! This episode is very interesting as it realistically shows how power can go to someone's head very quickly, it's also very witty and intriguing, and whether you want to or not you end up watching it to the end! Overall this is aclassic episode and would give it 10/10

5.0 out of 5 stars We knew a food related video was coming!, 15 May 2000
By A Customer
This Simpsons video is dedicated to the contents of OFF's larder, providing four comical episodes.
In King-Size Homer from Season 7, Homer wants to avoid having to take part in Mr Burns' daily fitness sessions. Finding out that another employee got injured to avoid them, Homer tries to do the same. Coming away from a building site unscathed, he stumbles upon a leaflet that says he can work from home if he weighs more than 300lbs. So Homer bulks up, gets a monitor at home, and causes havoc at the Power Plant. You'll have to watch for the exciting conclusion.
Paul McCartney is joined by his late wife Linda in the Season 7 episode Lisa The Vegetarian. Here, OFF visit a kid's petting zoo, and Lisa falls in love with a cute baby lamb. When the family sit down to eat however, lamb is on the menu. In frustration, Lisa decides to become a vegetarian, and disrupts Homer's meat-filled barbeque when she barges the spit-roast with a mower. Lisa then sees vegetarianism from a different point of view when she finds out that Apu is also a veggie. Has Homer really been eating Tofu Dogs all this time?
In Season 4's Duffless, Homer sneaks out of work to go to the Duff brewery with Barney. Homer is arrested for drink-driving by Chief Wiggum (falsely in my opinion), watch out for an even more intoxicated Barney at the end of that scene! As a result, Marge forces Homer to give up drinking for a month. You'll have to watch the video to see if Homer survives without his favourite tipple. Also in this episode, Lisa tries to prove whether Bart is smarter than a hamster, after Bart ruins her original science project.
The video finishes with my favourite Season 8 episode, Homer Vs The Eighteenth Amendment. Here, when Bart ends up getting drunk at a St Patrick's Day parade, it is revealed that alcohol has actually been banned in Springfield for 200 years. However, Chief Wiggum fails to enforce the new law, and he is fired in favour of old-style cop Rex Banner. But under the new guy's nose, Homer the Beer Baron lurks, supplying beer throughout Springfield. Watch as Homer runs out of beer, and faces the consequences after saving Wiggum's job! Gasp as Moe moves into Springfield's hot Pet Shop market! See Homer, later scoring a perfect game in Season 11's Hello Gutter, Hello Fadder, do exactly the opposite at the bowling alley! JUST BUY THE VIDEO DAMMIT!

There's a couple of brilliant episodes on this (including the one where Mr Burns sells the power plant to the Germans), and the one where Homer gains 150lbs just so he can work from home.
The episode where Homer becomes the food critic is not so good, and "Raiders of the Lost Fridge" is not the best compilation - Dark Secrets or Viva Los Simpsons both contain better episodes and have more consistent themes. Another niggle is the age of some of these episodes - one is dated 1991. This would be acceptable were it not for the fact that BBC2 seem to be showing 1990-1992 on a ten-week loop, but I can't help feeling that there's lots of newer episodes that we could be seeing.
Definitely worth renting, but only die-hard completists should feel they have to own it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great Simpsons video., 9 Jun 2000
By A Customer
I already own 5 Simpson's videos but Raiders of the Lost Fridge is one of the best. Each food-featured episode all feature extremely funny moments and also includes a short extra entitled 'Homer's Guide to Weight Management' to complete the brilliant beefy package. Kicking off with 'Look Who's Coming to Critisise Dinner' which features some brilliant lines which is then followed by 'King-Size Homer' where Homer gets even heavier (61 pounds more to be exact). That episode is followed by the one episode on the video that has already been shown on BBC 2, the one where Mr. Burns sells his Power Plant to some Germans. The final one is 'Lisa the Vegetarian'. Although this episode had some very funny moments, it's just a shame that the video had to end with an episode about Lisa which are often so boring as they always feature Lisa campaining about something or something like that. All in all though, it's a video well worth buying, just make sure you don't get any ideas from it, especially 'King -Size Homer'!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons are the best Cartoon in the world, Nuff said!!, 28 Nov 2001
By A Customer
I love the simpsons, so I would probably give any of the videos 5/5, but this is one of my favourites!
The first episode is from series 11, Guess who's coming to critisize Dinner? Homer becomes a food critic and ends up in a way that only Homer could, with all the chefs in Springfield wanting to kill him for being over-critical! Not really one of my favourites.
King-size Homer-I really love this one! Homer decides to become grossley overweight so that the can work from home on a computer!(series 7).
Burns verkaufen der Kraftwerk-From series 3. Mr Burns sells the power plant to a German Company and Homer ends up losing his job! The only referenece to food though is when Homer daydreams about the land of chocolate, it's a bit of a tenuous link!! I think it would have been better to include the misterious voyage of Homer from series 8 where Homer eats some really hot chilli and starts hallucinating!!
Lisa the Vegitarian-This is my favourite on this tape and probably my favourite from series 7! It's pretty self explanatory really!!
If like me you are absolutely bonkers about the Simpsons then there probably won't be any need to read this review because you'll have all the books!! I have on pre-recorded tape and taped from Sky one and BBC2 all of the Simpsons episodes so far except for Bart Carny(which I have seen) and The city of New York vs Homer Simpson(which I haven't enen seen)! The problem is that it won't be on for ages because of the terrorist attacks!
Anyway, which ever video you buy, if you love the simpsons, you'll like all of them, so my advice is buy the lot!!!!!
