5.0 out of 5 stars Around the world in 60 minutes...
The Thievery Corporation have really cornered the market in their blend of chilled breaks, dub-influence, a bit of psychedelia, and a globe trotting selection of sounds! The good news is that they have never sounded better than on this album - the large number of collaborators has certainly paid off!
The album is diverse in its influences, but hangs together really...

3.0 out of 5 stars Tired formula
I'm afraid I have to disagree with almost everyone here because I don't feel this is up with thir best work. I am a long-standing fan but the formula is looking rather tired now. There are some great moments don't get me wrong, especially the Flaming Lips contribution but some is like TC by numbers and one track in particular is so "cod reggae" that it's embarrassing. I...

It's Ok, pleasant lounge music.
Some people seem to really love these guys, can't say it got me overly excited to be honest, but that's just my taste, so don't know if that is something to judge this on.

The Thievery Corporation - great songs, great production and never repetative! I was introduced to them by a friend about a year ago and now find myself always saying their name whenever anyone asks me "so, what kind of music are you into...?"

Spread the word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Washington's King Loungers continue to dominate, 21 Nov 2005
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Cosmic Game (Audio CD)
I've had this album for a while but it remains top of my mp3 playlist . The sleek Washington duo never dissapoint, and I thank Hed Kandi for introducing me to the Thievery Corps via served Chilled 1.For Comic Game the theme is of international chilled grooves Jamaican raga dub ,latino , flava's, Eastern psychadelic strums and also vocals from pop/rock vocalists Flaming Lips and veteran David Byrne .This is my favourite Thievery Corporation collection and with a diverse downtempoe international mixture of laid back beats grooves and rhythms, from The Thievery Corporation which prooves why Thievery Corp lead this genre and stand out from others such as Fila Brazilia and Tosca. If youve never experienced the Thievery experince ,this is a good one to start with , but be warned it is laid back and doesn't emerge past third gear.

2.0 out of 5 stars More of the same...(again), 11 April 2005

Even from about ten seconds into The Cosmic Game' you know straight away that TC are re-hashing the same stuff all over again. Basically here it is in a nutshell - Every single TC album is nearly identical in sound. Some might say this is a great feat, staying true to one's roots and all that, but I don't buy it, it has become STAGNANT. TC sound great when you first discover them but once you've listened to their different releases, all their albums merge into one bossa-nova-martini-soaked haze where you eventually find yourself crawling along the floor looking for the exit signs.
Don't get me wrong, musically it's okay and it's quite pleasant downbeat music - it's just that every new album is always the same, year in year out. There is no progression or refinement to their sound.
Moral of the story - You only ever need to own one TC album and you'll have pretty much heard them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fantastic album, 21 Feb 2005
This review is from: The Cosmic Game (Audio CD)
Another amazing album from Theivery Corporation.
In my opinion the extraordinary variety of sounds which make it onto each and every TC LP is a testament to their talent and skills as musicians and producers.
This feat is blown apart once again on the new LP, The Cosmic Game, with the appearance of many and varied guest vocalists.
Most artists have maybe one or two guest appearances on an album, not eleven!.
Some tunes are classic TC, some are new and interesting however you can be sure the only thing which doesn't vary throughout the album is the sheer quality.
As always with TC material, a full disc of music but never a reason to hit the "skip" button.
Ignore at your peril!

4.0 out of 5 stars hahaha hehehe, 15 May 2005
This review is from: The Cosmic Game (Audio CD)
well this album exhibits the customary variety of a thievery corporation release.
As usual a combination of very good tracks and some fillers.
Yes the sound is chilled, but, apart, its difficult to sum up the overall feel of the album, because of the varied music encompassed. However, seated in a cramped room in the middle of a city, encompassed by revision material, this music this music draws out the wandering spirit....feel like I want to jump out the window and chill on some obscure beach...
best tracks on here for me are Amerimacka and ambicioun eterne and wires and watch tower...definitely the most melodic (weak words but...describing music is like describing the taste of food...)
Haha, anyway people saying the thievery repeats and sounds the same...pretty funny, as they compile and remix alot of varying music...precisely what I like about thievery is their impressive variety.
But whatever, purchase if you like music. period.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, 28 July 2005

I heard the track with David Byrne on a Word complilation CD and bought the album. It's really good - parts of it have a distinct Massive Attack sound. Definitely a mellow summer dance CD.
