I have owned spear and jackson products in the past and purposely looked to buy other items from them because of there after sales policy. I owned a very reliable tree lopper for several years and accidently broke the blade, on calling spear and jackson they immediately sent me a new blade free of charge no questions asked.

Everything I could wish for in a pair of loppers. So easy to cut, even with my arms stretched to full length! Easy to extend and I get the feeling that these will be with me for many years, they seem to be very robust. An excellent investment.

Excellent value for money.

This tool does exactly as described. Cutting quite thick branches you would normally consider using a saw on, you can let the ratchet mechanism do the work. Took a couple of go's before getting the the technique. Close the handles until you start to struggle, open slightly do you get one click and the close again. Should cut like a knife through butter.

I have had to return this item for refund. One of the telescopic arms snapped internally on being pulled out into the extended position. On this evidence, not sufficiently resilient for heavyweight use. Best I suspect to have 2 loppers, one short arm, one long, rather than trying to get one tool to do two jobs.

l love my Spear and Jackson lopper it has cut through my overgrown shrubs, climbers and conifer trees with ease and it cuts quite thick branches, being horizontally challenged [5ft] l am delighted with the extending handles which increase my cutting height. definitely one of my better gardening tools, the fact that it has telescopic handles makes storage very easy

This Spear & Jackson product replaces a similar lopper (not S & J) that finally wore out after years of sevice. So far the new lopper, which is very easy and effortless to use, seems exceptionaly good value for money.

I am so pleased with this lopper, being telescopic I can now reach higher, I am quite short, so this is very handy. It is heavy, but I think this is because it is so sturdy, brilliant.

A 1 product, had to buy a new one as the previous (inferior make) bent, this one seems perfect for the job, there is no savings to be made buying inferior products.

I bought these to replace a 12 year old pair of no name telescopic bypass loppers that had just snapped at the base of the blade. In comparison to my old ones these cut like a knife through butter, the ratchet takes most of the effort out of cutting thick branches although it takes a minute or two to get used to the way they work. The handles are oval section and feel very sturdy, even fully extended and they are locked in position by rotating the end cap which works well. I have had them several months now and have pruned back several trees in this time. To date the blades are still very sharp and show no dulling and the shears seem quite durable.
The reason I gave these 4 stars and not 5 is that there is no means of locking the loppers shut when you are carrying or storing them. I have resorted to using a strip of Velcro around the handles when carrying them to make them easier to carry and also a bit safer. Despite the lack of any locking mechanism I would recommend these loppers.

Just an update after seasons use.
Loppers have been invaluable pruning a number of fruit trees, they cut quick thick branches with ease and still work perfectly so still happy with purchase
