Much better than X7 and more simple to get used to the gameplay, loved the 3D stages! It remembered me of the first 3 Megaman X games that I used to play at my SNES :)

5.0 out of 5 stars a great game and also a great revival of the series, 1 Aug 2011

this is a short review about the AWESOME megaman x8.

unlike it predecesor it plays only on a 2d platform but still uses 3d animations.
the game has a lot of content for the price and a lot of replay value eg: going back to collect items you missed etc...

the game also has perfect diffuiculty setting
easy is easy ( even for a megaman newcomer )
normal is diffuicult for newcomers but not regulars
but hard mode is HARD AS NAILS

thanks for reading bye

5.0 out of 5 stars Mega Man X is back!, 8 Jun 2011

When I first got Mega Man X7 for my Playstation 2, I was expecting good things, considering I had very good experiences with other games in the series. However, to my annoyance, the game was pretty much a failure, Bad voice acting, clunky controls, you name it. However, later I heard that Mega Man X8 was apparently a much better game. So as you can guess I was interested in trying it out.

And let me tell you that this game is a brilliant improvement over Mega Man X7. It plays out very similar to the old Mega Man X games, X1, X2, and X3, however it does add more to the table.

You can play as 3 characters, Mega Man X, Zero, and Axl, and they each have their own abilities. X plays out just like he does in other games, he can run, dash, charge his buster, and so on. Zero has his Z-Saber which he can fight with kinda like a Jedi from Star Wars, This fighting is also much better then it is in X7 if you ask me. And then last of all, Axl, who's gameplay is very reminiscent of Bass's gameplay in Mega Man & Bass and Mega Man 10. He shoots very fast, but weak, and cannot run whilst shooting. You play in teams of 2 characters like in X7, with one in control and you can switch to the other when you need to, but this also brings in a new form of Attack called the Double Attack, There is a meter on the side of your health bars that when it is full, you can press R2 and if there are any enemies within range, you can call in your partner character to do a lot of damage to those enemies!

The game looks great for a PS2 game, and it's just as fun as older Mega Man games, and can be quite challenging!

The music isn't as great as older games, however, it's nothing too bad! And for once, This is a Mega Man game that actually has decent voice acting!

So, overall a brilliant game, and a much needed improvement over Mega Man X7!

10/10!
