A great watch for the money - better than buying cheap fake watches.
on 19 September 2014
I wanted a nice watch as my Seiko refused to hold charge after many years of faithful service. I was looking at Bulova, Citizen etc then saw this. I spent a lot of time reading other reviews and was off-put by some negative reviews of bad experience with the make o watch. I almost did not get this, but in the end decided to as it was such a good price - a lot less that buying a copy of a watch.
It arrived the next day and on opening the yellow box, the watch looked classy from the start. The strap was a little large so had to remove 2 links (one from each side of the clasp) then to fine tune I had to adjust the pin in the clasp. This was easy done by pushing in the pin at the side and sliding it up (or down), then doing the one on the other side. They soon click into place on the next notch.
I set the date and time then screwed the crown back in. At mid day the date changed, I had the watch hands at the wrong time - they must be hands in 24 hours, so 11am was set to 11pm - strange, no other watch I have had has done this. After correcting the time, I adjusted the watch to my phone. I have worn it every day and night for a week, just removing it to shower (even though it is water proof - a force of habit). So far over the course of a feel it has lost 42 seconds, which I find not bad at all. After being in the light for a while and then becoming instantly dark, the hands and number markers glow quite bright for easy to see in darker rooms. If it is a gradual darkness, the hands are not too easy to see at first, but at night I hold the watch up to my face and I can see the time even in the dark, the hands glow just enough to ensure that.
The clasp is a little tight to get off, so am hoping that this may loosen a little after more wear.
I am getting compliments on the watch as it looks a lot more expensive than it actually was, and am thinking of betting another watch from Invicta if the price is right.
UPDATE FEB 2015
Had the watch now for a while, wearing it daily, only taking it off for a shower. I have lowered the star rating by 2 for the following reasons.
1. Timekeeping. The watch loses 5 minutes per week. Every week I need to keep adjusting the time. A watch that does not tell the correct time is really not that good.
2. When adjusting the time, it is hard to push the crown back in. You have to angle it a bit and push a few times until it goes in. You know when this is done when the second hand starts moving again. It can take me a good 40 seconds to push the pin in, by which time it is already not telling the correct time I set it to.
The watch looks great, feels great. Pity that the timekeeping is poor and the quality of the crown is lower than I would expect. Would be angry if I had paid the so called RRP. This is obviously a made up RRP to make you think you are getting a bargain.
