As soon as the feedback at the start of opening track Hand of Blood gives way to the meaty guitar riffs and pounding drums you smile to yourself and you know this band will be something very special in the years to come. The name, and the fact they come from Wales, gives you the impression that they will be an emo band, they're not. Old school metal riffs, multi-layered vocals and anthemic, fist pumping choruses leave you feeling at the end of the album that it was too short and that you want more. BFMV are often lumped in with the rest of the metalcore brigade such as Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu, in the ridiculous need for bands to be pigeon-holed and categorised. However, neither of those bands hit levels of this quality on their first albums, never mind their EPs. None of the songs are weak, although 'Hand of Blood' and 'Curses' stand out as being the best tracks, and the new single Four Words to Choke Upon (not included on the EP) continues this trend of excellent quality. We can only hope that the full length album will be released very soon.

This EP was a wakeup call to bring back a bit of guitar technicality to the mainstream. Its heavy, its frantic, its guitars slice you to bits. This was BFMV at their very best, even today if I want to listen to this band I will put this CD on. Yes `Poison' is quite a good record but this is a finely crafted almost perfect CD of songs. No weak filler here.
If you want to hear Bullet at their best looking like they could take over the world this is the one BFMV CD to rule them all.
Hand of Blood: Violent screams, chugging rhythm, leads bursting forth all over the place. Time to breath? No way.
Cries in Vain: Starts with a sound as if emerging from water before the stop start riffing kicks in. Like Killswitch Engage drowning in a sea of Iron Maiden.
Curses: The ballad, not in a skip this track way, more to help you take a breath. Begins in a lovely acoustic way before kicking it up a notch or ten.
No Control: Letting lose after the ballad track
Just Another Star: What a closing track! Violent, technical and soaring.
No weak songs buy now.

bullet for my valentine have been around for a few years and have experimented with their sound in order to find what suits and this is the return of years of hard work and what an achievement, the five tracks on offer show a range of hardcore with twists of emo thrown in,the threee singers also make the band unique and the venom and anger rarely fade, this is a great taster for their debut 45 so if you like silverstein, beloved and finch then get this and you wont be sorry

For anyone claiming to like metal/emo/screamo etc, this is an album for you!! Amazing mixture of melody & brutal riffs, it's not to be missed.
B4MV are yet another in the (ever increasing) list of excellent bands to come out of Wales in the last decade or so.
If you like 36 CrazyFists, Atreyu etc, check this out NOW!
Enjoy, keep British music alive!

I hear a lot of people saying they do not own this album! Even though it is only five tracks two of which feature on poison, the others are amazing and are a crying shame to miss!
Hand of Blood is epic, just amazing!
Curses yes is a slow more acoustic song but it is my favourite and has been ever since i purchased this album 4 years ago! It's a great display of Matthew Tucks vocals even back then!
Cries in vein is awesome it's a little slower than hand of blood but its just like a good horror movie when it starts of quietly then it roars into action! That sounded better in my head but its a great song!
This is a great album please do add it to your metal or bullet for my valentine album collection it is worth the while!
This would also be a great first metal album, it's not hours long and its not got many tracks! It's not totally consistant with the screams and when it is its actually quite easy to hear the words! The lyrics are also not as graphic as they are in some other metal bands albums!

I first herd these guys at a club in Newport playing bewtween gigs and i asked my mate "who's THIS? it's awesome!" "it's bullet!" what hooked me was the extreemly fast riffage and i had an instant desire to play it very very loud. Everyone i know loves them and there genius mix of screaming, dawwwring and great musician work is great, just great. My personal favourite aspect of the band is how the voices interweave with the guitar riffs, and how the drums just keep on going! It seems to be absent in so many bands now that its good to see it in this band. There was only one thing i wanted to do when i herd "Hand of Blood" and that was to mosh my heart out. the best song of many i highly recommend Bullet for my Vallentine to anybody

This is probably the best CD i have purchased in the past few months. It's only five tracks, but they are pure gold. I saw BFMV at the Mean fiddler in February, and they were absolutely awsome. I would highly recommend this to any hardcore fan, as BFMV are shaping up to be the band of 2005, with their new killer single Four Words (To Choke Upon) out, which is limited edition, so buy it. Rock on xx

All BFMV fans need this in their collection.
Catalogues the bands beginning from their thrash metal roots.
Not as melodic as their later offerings. ..... but who cares. They ARE the new PANTERA
