5.0 out of 5 stars unique
This album was produced by one of the most unique bands out there, and it is a true masterpiece. 5.0 out of 5 stars unique, 3 Aug 2003

This album was produced by one of the most unique bands out there, and it is a true masterpiece. The lyrics don't ever really mean anything, it's just a whole lot of fun listening to songs about peaches, kitties and an old man. The genius behind the band is Chris Ballew and even though he and his colleague have 5 strings between their 2 guitars (a bassguit and a guitbass, apparently) the sound is immense. And do not overlook the vocals either, Ballew has an incredible voice and his backup fits perfectly.
And to top it all off, the most rockin' song EVER is on this CD, "Kick out the Jams". If you are ever feeling a bit down, just put this on at full blast and you cannot help but feel a sense of total joy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic album to inspire the youth of today!, 13 Oct 2001
By A Customer
The sound quality isn't anywhere near cd quality, they only use 5 strings and share them between 2 guitars, they sing about Kitties and Peaches.
These are the good points about this album, and once you've listened to it you will agree.
Every song on this album is performed with the gusto of a band who love thier work, and when you realise that Peaches and Lump only scratched the surface of this album you see there is alot more to PUSA than meets the eye. For me the best tracks must be the up-beat version of Kick out the Jams (with better lyrics than RATM's version), the hillbilly rock fun of Back porch and the epic (truly!) Naked and Famous.
If you own any of the other 3 albums, buy it!
If you don't, then buy it to find out that not every band from 1995 is full of suicidal sounds.

This was the Presidents first album and it is definatly the best. It was the first CD by them that I brought and it persuaded me to go out and buy thier other albums. It is sheer class!

4.0 out of 5 stars It gets better with each listen, 30 Jun 2000
By A Customer
When i first got this album i was unimpressed. Having got their 2nd album before this i didn't think it was very good. But by a couple of plays the following day, i loved it. Highlights are Lump, Kitty and Peaches. The band do not take themselves seriously at all which is a refreshing change from the likes of say, the overated Radiohead. And yes they are less annoying than Greenday. Buy this album you willl not be dissapointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stuff Green Day!, 17 Jun 2000
By A Customer
This album has much better song writing and is much less irritating than Green Day. Although some songs sound similar it is the sort of album you just cant help smiling about. Highlights include "Kitty", "Kick out the jams" and "Naked and famous". Buy it, turn it up and air guitar!

2.0 out of 5 stars Tedium quickly ensues., 18 Oct 2002
By
What starts as a high-paced collection of melodic, guitar charged tracks soon becomes grating and annoying.
The sad fact is that none of the stuff on here is funny so it cannot be considered to be a comedy/novelty record and the musical shortcomings show themselves after 5 or 6 listens so it can't be taken seriously either.
Yes there are some diverting songs on here such as "Lump" and at times "Back Porch", but while POTUSA initially appear to be not quite funny but still likeable, this is a sentiment that doesn't last.
Notably, their wittiest piece, the self-mocking We Are Not Going To Make It - "'Cos there's a million better bands with a million better songs" - was written by someone else.
