4.0 out of 5 stars B movie
If you are looking for B movie barrel scrapings, then look no further. This is particularly dire in most respects, but remains an entertaining watch for fans of extremely low budget cheese. importantly this film doesnt take itself to seriously, it seems to be fully aware of it's status as B movie; nothing ruins films like this more than the cast and crew thinking they are...

3.0 out of 5 stars demons clone quite entertaining, 15 July 2007
Basic plot. School swim team gets infected by a chemical spill in the basement of the school which turns them into ghouls. The remaining students, teachers and a band that are performing there have to try to survive. Not sure if this is made before or after lamberto bava film demons but its very similair (bunch kids trapped together, slimy demons with big teeth) but on a lower budget. The only two people we get to root for are Jeff and Steve the horror nerds and possible the band. The rest are ghoul fodder. The gore is ok, some nice scenes but a lot of fake bodies having blood shot out of them and a lot of blood capsules on arms, legs, etc. After all said and done its a nice no brainer film to chill out to if you like low budget horror and you'll know exactly what to expect.

2.0 out of 5 stars Truly Dire, 17 Sep 2009

After two thugs manage to accidentally cause a chemical mishap at the local high school, the school swim team and others become infected. These infectious people then become ravenous cannibalistic zombie type creatures. Cue fake body parts and loads of fake blood in this no-brainer horror movie. The acting is awful, the special effects are too, the only saving grace is that unintentionally this film is funny, but not alas funny enough to make it an awful but strangely good film.

This is particularly dire in most respects, but remains an entertaining watch for fans of extremely low budget cheese. importantly this film doesnt take itself to seriously, it seems to be fully aware of it's status as B movie; nothing ruins films like this more than the cast and crew thinking they are making high art, check rise of the gargoyles for a monster movie that is lamentably up it's own behind.

1.0 out of 5 stars BAD FOR EVEN A BAD MOVIE, 11 Sep 2013

The Movie Guy "Movies from A to Z" (United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
Some thieves accidentally release a toxin in a school which contaminates the water supply. This turns a bunch of students into blood thirsty ghouls. Unlike Zombies they can move quickly. The movie was designed to be cheesy and campy, but was simply stupid. The funniest scene was when the kids were chased into the auditorium by the ghouls. The doors swung out, but the kids were able to prevent the ghouls from entering by standing/blocking the inside of the door. The budget was too low to rehang a door.

The gore was typically scenes of blood and guts being ripped from a body, although you don't see a face on the body being ripped apart. They used fake body parts but couldn't figure out how to bury/cover a person so just their head shows, making it look like their body is being ripped. The extras were just as bad. The appearances of Joe Franklin and Jackie Martling added nothing to the movie.

F-bomb. No sex. No nudity.
