Killer cats are on the prowl after they start to develop a taste for you human flesh as a failing kitty food company decides to top up their tins with exhumed dead bodies!

Low budget and amateurly handled, but somewhat fun and amusing. It's pretty mild on shock value though, even for its day back in '71. Its very light on gore, bar one scene of a cat autopsy. There's no graphic close ups of bodies being grinded and minced as the cover art and title might suggest. So don't expect any Herschell Gordon Lewis type antics here! The 18 rating is misleading also, the film could easily pass for a 12 rating. The cat attacks lack suspense and are clumsily handled and they actually resemble an attack on the cat itself as they are gripped, pulled and thrown around. There's little praise I can aim at this one except for the oddball nature of it all that may appeal to admirers of the campy and schlocky kind. It killed an hour but I'll unlikely revisit this one again.

88Films provides a decent enough release - a directors commentary, making-of, trailers, reversible sleeve and a small booklet with notes provided by Callum Waddell. Picture quality reflects the early 70's grindhouse dirt and grime, so no remastering clean up operation has been undertaken, but I suppose that adds to its charm.
