Friends will go down in history as one of the most successful American sitcoms ever and its easy to understand why.

The early series of Friends had audiences always wanting more. With all of the actors making a name for themselves, audiences anticipated so much and they expertly delivered.

Having different styles in the characters worked wonders. The spoilt child Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) the cleaning obsessed Monica (Courtney Cox) the weird Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) the ladies man Joey (Matt Le Blanc) the sarcastic Chandler (Matthew Perry) and the Dinosaur proffesor Ross (David Schwimmer) all combined well to deliver humorous jokes to make audiences appreciate the different ideologies put forth by producers David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

Using these different people added up to the characters constantly having disagreements but able to share a wide range of jokes.

Rachel and Monica are great with their gentle relationship issues but at times may be seen as repetitve. Joey and Chandler are obviously the most enjoyable as they have a more relaxed agenda towards the world and see life as an adventure.
Having them mixed with the serious characters was great as they brough a new light to their lives. Ross is ok and produces a few memorable classic moments e.g. the one with ross's teeth but he is also quite repetitive but easy to laugh with. Phoebe has the best female role as the strangest character ever. Her uniqueness has to be admired as she has a different aspect of life than the others and having her with the others brings many fresh ideas to the show. in fairness she peeked in the earlier series and lost her flare in the last few seasons

My personal favourite season was the third. We had many classics such as `The One with the football', `The One with the Ultimate Fighting Champion' and `The one where Ross and Rachel take a break'
The reason for this season being the best is because there were so many different ideas being thrown around. The hilarious `The one with the flashback' and then the very highly emotional ``the one where Ross and Rachel take a break'

Series four and five were equally brilliant and then from series 6 onwards the show started to relax and developed a more mature episode towards life with ideologies of marriage, pregnancy (wrong idea repeating the same story in my opinion but still occasionally funny) adoption etc all used. An interesting concepts but the show started to slide. The characters seemed to not bother and appeared as if they had lost their attitude for life but I suppose that was to be expected. Nevertheless it is always enjoyable but i personally believe the first 5 seasons are the best

The very last episode almost got me in tears and was a high point in the series - the relationship between Ross and Rachel is the key to this comedy series and this last episode emphasisd it beautifully

We wait to see what the actors are going to do now. There have been rumours about running a few more episodes. 'Joey' was at first successful but was'nt very interesting for me personally. Aniston is still starring in a few films but little has been heard of the others.

`Friends' is a classic comedy and is very highly recommended. Anyone who enjoys jokes about relationships, love, sex, work, society etc will enjoy this American sitcom

friends has been milked dry with releases on vhs as single episodes then seasons then dvd episodes then complete seasons then full 10 season boxset then a re release then an anniversary full lenth boxset so there is no excuse at all to milk it further by releasing cut down versions on bluray which is going back a step in my eyes ,and then to have the nerve to try and charge £70 , ive read people have paid over £100 and im disgusted there asking for £70+ its a con and a rip off considering the dvds look nearly as good in a bluray player anyway and you get more footage per episode.if this was £20 i might consider it and keep my dvd boxset aswell.but its no excuse for th lazyness and complete rip off con attitude companies have when they release stuff again and again knowing idiots will buy them regarding of what they do,they do the same with films, take all special features off and put new lenticular packaging on or something and everyone rushes to buy it again its crazy
