5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing less than brilliant, 16 Nov 2004

This review is from: Nothing Comes Easy (Audio CD)
This is a complete collection of Sandie's 'a' and 'b' sides, with a smattering of other non-released tracks within the UK coupled with a fair number of other tracks.
This collection is a chronological display of Sandie's work - ranging from her first single (which wasn't successful) through to her later works with the Smiths and, her own composition, 'nothing less than brilliant'.
There is a fantastic booklet contained within it, which is written largely by Sandie (from an interview about the tracks), and contains photographs, including for every single, a copy of the vinyl. The interview is candid, and Sandie gives her own opinion - including for one track "vile".
It's a wonderful collection - and Sandie should be so proud of her career - as I am too - for owning this set.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Sandie Shaw Collection!!!, 8 Dec 2004
This review is from: Nothing Comes Easy (Audio CD)
Sandie Shaw is much more than a 60s icon. She recorded into the 70s and returned with some superb recordings in the 80s urged on by The Smiths' Morrissey and Johnny Marr. Hers is an illustrious career and this amazing four CD set includes all of her singles (both 'a' and 'b' sides, no less) and the lavishly illustrated book includes Sandie's notes on the tracks. It is a blessing that Sandie owns the rights to all her recordings because she has insisted on a first rate job in sound quality and packaging. This is not a Woolworth's cheap product. The sound of her massive string of 60s singles is superb! Never before released tracks on CD or anywhere are included! Every which way you win if you admire the girl from Dagenham who made good. I am rightfully delighted with this set and I am doubly delighted that Sandie included ALL of her singles from her first to the last which, hopefully, won't be her last recording. This will make a wonderful gift and I know, I treated myself to this gem of Sandie Shaw music.

5.0 out of 5 stars What is missing, 9 July 2006
This review is from: Nothing Comes Easy (Audio CD)
Having obtained Cliff Richard's singles collection and found certain tracks missing I was waiting to find what has been left out of this Sandie Shaw compilation. The answer is NOTHING... The obscure early seventies stuff is there like Show Your Face and Wight Is Wight which although they were released on the Pye label never made it to earlier compilations. As a small critisism it would have been nice to have heard Sandies versions of Its In His Kiss and Downtown [neither included- but then why should they have been!!] GREAT SET

almost every SS single except "Jeane" with the smiths in 1984 from that 12" single.!

otherwise "hand in glove" & "I don't owe you anything" w/smiths ARE on it. alas no TOTP-BBC1TV version of HIG single - pity as J.Marr Esq wore wife Angie's jewels that evening.! great fun.

great set. lots of stereo cuts. some foreign ep/singles cuts.

all her Pye A's & B's on it. Remastered.

CD no 4(/4) is rarities stuff.

Booklet is superb.
