4.0 out of 5 stars different,but good., 22 Sept. 2004

Just to get things clear, those of you who are expecting another smell of rain are in for a suprise.
The Grudge is very different, its heavier, alot more aggressive and the vocals are alot more distorted.
Whereas the smell of rain left off on a melancholic note(the whole album having a sad, despairing feel to it) the grudge kicks off on a sharp, hectic note with "broken skin" and carries this feel on throughout the whole album. The album is generall very good and the lyrics are alot deeper and more meaningfull,my only complaint is that if you arent listening to it on a personal cd player with headphones, the lyrics are hard to hear through the music.Other than that its a very good album.
Standout tracks are:"broken skin","grudge","decadent and desperate","worste in me" and "le petit cochon sordide"(with its urgent invective "why cant you ever get enough you great big f**k".
Overall a good album, you will either love it or hate it,there is no compromise.

This Limited Edition album has a great layout, its transparent cover is a "Must Have" for any Mortiis fan, it doesnt feature any lyrics, but is layed out exellent, i dont think the tracks are as good as "Smell Of Rain" , as the album has a total different feel to it, its more loud and less miserable but a nice edition to a good music collection
HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS ALBUM:
"Broken Skin"
"Way To Wicked"
"The Grudge"
"Decadent & Desperate"
This Album: Satisfaction Guarentied

4.0 out of 5 stars the goblin man rocks, 6 Jun. 2005

my mate brought this round yesterday and we spent the most part of the day in awe at this album. id only heard the grudge (single) before so hearing the rest of the album was pretty cool. mortiis is pure gothic industrial with a kind of techno edge to it. you can definatly bang your head to it but its one of those rare albums where you can just chill out to it as well. decadent and desperate is a standout track, just being five or minutes of him arguing to himself, any of you that have seen the video to this will understand it more since they both go hand in hand perfectly. but screw it the rest of the album is damn cool. definatly worth it if you were into his first band emporer and if youre into nine inch nails, skinny puppy and the like then you will probably enjoy this too. the grudge is just awesome. only 4 stars cus no music is better than everything else even if it is damn good
