5.0 out of 5 stars A view inside British Politics as it may have been!
What a way to end a trilogy, Ian Richardson once again shines and is a joy to watch. The relationship between the screen and the real political worlds seem to be uncanny. Real gripping stuff, and a must for anyone with any interested in British politics

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad film
I saw this film many years ago and I liked it.After having seen many similar films since then, it does not appeal to me as much as the first time. But still not bad.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deliciously evil, 21 May 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Final Cut [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The third and last in the series, it lacks the deep intrigue and sheer power of To Play the King, but is nevertheless excellent. Urquhart is clearly slipping as the all powerful PM in this series, which Richardson again plays perfectly. Another superb performance all round, with those delicious asides of Richardson's which bring the viewer into the intrigue. I only wish the plot was as powerful as Richardson's acting in this series! Splendid stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars The title says it all ..., 5 Jan 2001

Francis Urquhart's back for the third time, struggling with the polls. Gotta see this if you have seen the two previous series or read the books.

the final cut is real gem of a thriller and features a awesome cast of sam elliott/ray baker/charles martin smith.i cant praise this film enough,it has a great story and screenplay, its very tense and exciting and goes a long at a cracking pace.its about a bomber who is specifically trying to kill members of the bomb squad and cause havoc and destruction.on the trail of the bomber is retired ex-bomb squad expert sam elliot who is called in to try and help.the thing is each time he leaves a bomb he leaves booby traps and changes the trigger and just when you think they have diffused it,bang, and on top of that sam elliott ends up becoming the prime suspect.i could go on forever about this film its that good.take my word for it watch it and enjoy.just awesome.

3.0 out of 5 stars A DIAPPOINTMENT, 26 Dec 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Final Cut [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I THINK I CAN CLAIM MYSELF TO BE FU'S GREATEST FAN. I HAVE READ THE 3 BOOKS MORE THAN 10 TIMES AND WATCHED THE 1ST 2 VIDEO EDITIONS OVER A 100 TIMES. BUT I WAS TRULY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FINAL CUT. IT'S INTERESTING BUT I TRULY PREFERED BBC'S VERSION OF THE 2 1ST STORY LINES TO THE BOOK BU THE 3RD ONE, SIMPLY PROVED THAT AUTHOR IS A TRUE GENIUS. WHLE THE BOOK IS BRILLIANT, ENTERTAINING AND BREATHTAKING, THE MOVIE IS BORING AND ONLY COLOURED BY A FEW SHOUTS AND A BUNCH OF BORING SEX SCENES. I DEFINITELY EXPECTED BETTER THAN THIS, SPECIALLY THE ENDING WHICH WAS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL IN THE VIDEO AND BRILLIANT IN THE BOOK. SO IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ENJOY THE MOVIE, WATCH IT BEFORE READING THE BOOK. OTHERWISE YOU'LL FIND THE MOVIE A TRUE WASTE OF TIME.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dolby Surround not just Dolby Digital like on the package, 24 Feb 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Final Cut [DVD] (DVD)
Just as the titles says 3 seconds 2 wires 1 cut, only it's in Dolby Surround with Foley Walkers and artists *not* just Dolby Digital Monaural. I have watched this title at least 100 times on VHS tape in Hi-Fi Stereo, I am so glad *they* took the original soundtrack and put it back on for this thrilling movie from beginning to end. Amazon UK did a great job in shipping me this disc with full cover art, for this USA citizen that plays all regions of english speaking DVD. 4:3 or 1.33:1 is stretched on my HDTV, for that's the way I have my W/S HDTV set up. Great price, great movie, great cast, and great suspense. All you need is a Dolby Decoder, I have a Dolby Pro-Logic Decoder hooked up to my all regions DVD player, you won't be sorry. Picture is like new great remaster from original masters. :-)
