5.0 out of 5 stars Mon tha Biffy, 13 Aug 2004
By
This is the DVD version of Biffy Clyro's latest single, and it precedes their new album, expected in October.
It features the video for the song and one track from their John Peel session.
The single, Glitter & Trauma, is wicked. It's an obvious progression from their first two albums; their music seems to be becoming less of the anthemic love songs, and more of the jagged, punctuated expressions of a band who are leading the Alt.Alt pack at the moment.
The video appears to be one of the highest budget to date, very glossy indeed. The band are acting in it for one the first times. Also the length of Simon's hair seems to be increasing just as fast as people are catching on to their music.
Biffy Clyro rock harder and heavier than anything you've heard before whilst at the same time their melodies and harmonies make you feel that bit closer to god... BUY THIS!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fab single from ma boys!, 28 Aug 2004
This review is from: Glitter And Trauma (Audio CD)
Discovering Biffy had a new single, delighted and excited, I picked up my new Switch card and ordered this and the dvd version straight away. To enter into the debate, I've always preferred their debut album, Blackened Sky, over 2nd album, Vertigo Of Bliss. This single and it's b-sides sit right in between the two albums in terms of sound. And thats a good thing.
Glitter and Trauma, is a funky little number, slightly reminiscent of Questions&Answers from their 2nd album. It's a quality number, featuring Biffy's trademarks of a soft/loud structure and plenty of varying music parts (and unusual timings - that only they can pull off). It's gonna b a biffy anthem me thinks.
Bonanxoid Deathgrip (i think). Is track2 on the cd, and could have easily fitted on either of the first 2 albums. A great solid song, that picks up halfway through, and grows on ur brain.
Stars and Shites. Wow! this song impressed me. Could have fitted into Blacken Sky no problem. The intro is ok, but once past that the song kicks in for me. A beautiful mellow song on accoustic. Show Simon's variety when it comes to vocals, gentle and heart-warming here. Would love to hear this on a film or tv prog e.g. cold feet (or such drama), it wud fit right in.
Overall, a very impressive new single. It has loyal fans already singing the lyrics, and patiently waiting for the next single, just before album number three explodes. Roll on baby, roll on.

4.0 out of 5 stars BEST BIFFY YET!, 20 Aug 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Glitter And Trauma (Audio CD)
Last album 'Vertigo of Bliss' was a huge step forward in terms of Biffy Clyro's music, but this marks their best work to date. The song has the usual soft-to-loud musical parts that has become a Biffy trademark and the guitar is catchier than any previous Biffy song. Simon Neill's vocals are stronger than ever before and really brings the chorus to life in the same way thathe did on popular single 'Questions and Answers'. The only criticism with this first official release from new album 'Infinity Land' is it is not the kind of full on assault that songs off the previous album had. It is only at the end that Simon reverts to his agressive, screaming vocals. Nevertheless, 'Glitter and Trauma' makes the upcoming album seem very promising.
