This review is from: Remembering Anne Frank - Dear Kitty [1999] [DVD] (DVD)
My daughter is studying the book at school and we wanted something that complemented her reading. After a lot of deliberation we settled on this one.

The main programme was made for/by the Anne Frank House. It shows the entrance to the secret annexe and the layout inside too. There is also background information regarding Anne's early life.

The bonus DVD is narrated by Jeremy Irons. It's an edited version of the main feature, but set up in a way to promote discussion with children.

Excellent value for money. Not too long for a child to watch. A useful supplement to reading the book.

This review is from: Remembering Anne Frank - Dear Kitty [1999] [DVD] (DVD)
The story of Anne Frank is so well known, but unlike the books about her world famous diary, or the movies & TV dramas, this DVD, produced by the Anne Frank Huis draws on accounts of those who knew Anne & her family, and who were involved in hiding them in the attic, including the great Miep Gies, who saved the diaries, following the familys' arrest, and who handed them over, unread, to her father, on his return from the concentration camps.
The rest is, of course, history. This should be a must for anyone with an interest in history, and should be shown to everyone, to remind people where intolerance can lead.

This DVD is Miep Gies talking about her experience in World War 2. And Miep Gies works for Otto Frank company that makes bottled essence quick jam. Miep Gies does the clerical jobs. Along with other office staff. Miep Gies visits the previous home where the Frank's used to live in World War 2. And how the Frank's used to live. Miep Gies used to help the Frank's by doing errands for the Frank's. Shopping and other jobs and looked out for them becouse of the jews taken away by the Nazis. The Frank's used to have to hide becouse of the threat of being deported to the Death camps. One of the workers contacted the police and the Frank's were taken away. Only Otto Frank survied the camps. This includes about Anne Franks diary for her days, Fantises and thoughts. This is a sad true story and heartfelt story. Which should be never forgotten.
