5.0 out of 5 stars ALBUM OF THE YEAR SO FAR
I got this record on the strength of the 2 singles i had heard, but nothing about them prepared me for how great this album would be.I have bought every major guitarband's release this year, Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Razorlight etc and enjoyed all of them, it is indeeda good time for good guitar music.
However the Ordinary boys album blows them all away, the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very very ordinary
Goodness me! This CD is awful. The lead vocals are flat, just listen to the opening lines of track 8 (and often pretentious - how many of its target audience know what cathartic means, I wonder); the guitar is... shall I be kind and say amateurish; the rest of the band hardly make a contribution - a beat box would have been better. When the band join in the chorus it's...

3.0 out of 5 stars BUY BRASSBOUND!, 25 Mar 2006
Dont get me wrong, i am a big fan of the ordinary boys, but only a fan of their new album brassbound, which is a masterpiece, but i think this is a poor debut, listening to tracks off this album and listening to brassbound, everything about it is better, prestons vocals on this album i think are distinctly average, as on brassbound i think his voice is brilliant and has grown and matured alot since over the counter culture, they also have grown in style & instrumentally and also in songwriting and lyriccally. i think "little bitch" is a terrible track, im not familiar with 2-tone ska music, and i dont really want to be to be honest after hearing that, agree or disagree, its terrible, lyrically terrible and its a very un-talented track vocally, i am glad i found out it was a cover cos the boys are better than that. Maybe someday also isnt a gd track. OVERALL, Buy brassbound, which is a genius album.

Hearing this album you cannot help but wonder:is this some kind of a joke?
Is there any need for a Britpop revival? (let's be honest,it was bad enough the first time around)
This is sort of like a tuneless version of Blur's Parklife album...
Actually no,I'll just come out and say it:This is Menswear on a bad day.Don't believe the hype.
This,Razorlight,Franz bleedin' Ferdinand?
It's enough to put you off ever hearing a guitar again. And I'm not some burnt-out jaded old hack who thinks he has heard it all before,I'm a 17 year old with fully functioning ears.Buy The Libertines' new stuff instead if you still belief this kind of thing can ever be any good anymore.
