Tuning Drums Made Easy
on 5 April 2014
Tuning drums has always a personal choice so there is never a correct or not correct tone. I've always tuned my drums by ear using the star pattern and as long as the sound near each lugs the same felt that is was OK. I've never really known what pitch really to tune each drum. The Drum Dial helps here as it gives a tension for each drum. Pop the dial on the drum head near a tightening lug, it measured by a metal measuring rod, and tighten to your desired tension normally around 75 - 78 for toms, higher for snare.
The Drum dial certainly makes it easier to tune drums to your desired tuning. Certainly worth buying if you are new to acoustic drums.
