4.0 out of 5 stars NHL 2005, 14 Oct 2004
This review is from: NHL 2005 (PS2) (Video Game)
What makes this game outstanding from last years effort is it's attempt to make it like a real event. From the teams coming out onto the ice,(note Edmonton and Colorado, and San Joses entrance) to the national anthems you feel you are about to witness a real match. The slickness and speed of the game is so quick, and the animation so realistic ie Zdeno Chara the tallest player in the league is actually very tall on the ice. I've always thought the commentary track was a lot better and more in pace with the game on the NHL series in comparison with say FIFA, and it is no different here. The downside is that the screens can take a microsecond more to load up if you are moving around the various franchises. Secondly there is no option to create players, so you can't update rosters with the latest draft choices which I do find irritating. Unfortunately the NHL is on strike so you can't play in tandem with the current season but of course thats out of the games control, overall it is worth my investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars NHL 2005, What a game!!!!, 4 Oct 2004
This review is from: NHL 2005 (PS2) (Video Game)
If I had to describe this game in one word, It would be AMAZING.
The gameplay and graphics on the pc are amazing and the new modes are really good as well its good as well to see the updated stats and players as well and cant wait to play in the world cup of hockey should be great. two things I would like to point out are They need to add more european leagues to the game to make it more interesting for the gameplayer and finally it is a bit sad to see that they have taken away create player mode which is really sad.
Other than that the game overall is amazing, a defo buy for any sports fan.

Yup, this game is brilliant from the offset, always a pleasure to play. I must say it has been a little while since I last played a hockey game, which was nhl 97 on the ps1 and the original game I played was NHLPA on the mega drive, that rocked!
To be honest I can only really say what others have said and agree with the one disappointment of the game, in that it doesn't have create a player function. All they need to do really is add this and they got a game and a half!
