This review is from: WMF Perfect Plus 2.5 Litre Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker, 18cm Diameter (Kitchen & Home)
This "Perfect Plus" pressure cooker lives up to its name. It has a good, solid, induction-compatible (so can be used as an extra saucepan) base and the detachable handle makes for easy, thorough cleaning. The lock feels secure and the whole thing looks good and feels well-built. It works very well, needing very little water so saves energy. I bought it primarily to cook dried pulses, which it does very quickly. A little trial and error is needed at first to get the timing right, e.g. the manual suggests 10-15 minutes, with up to 10 minutes longer for large beans, but you soon learn the best times for different pulses. It's great for beetroot too. A very good product.

Like all WMF products, the build quality and safety features on this pressure cooker are superb. Its size makes it very useful for small households (1 or 2 people) or cooking small amounts of food that would be lost in one of their larger models, and the improvement in cooking times saves money and carbon footprint. I even took it camping, where it greatly expanded the range of cooking possible, though its weight would preclude use by backpackers.

However, a small word of warning: because of its small size and especially depth compared to other WMF pressure cookers, it's very important to thoroughly rinse foods that might froth up during cooking, such as pulses and particularly rice, before placing them in the cooker, and also not to attempt to cook too much at once. I discovered this when cooking unrinsed brown rice on two separate occasions - there was an unexpected blast of steam for a second or two. While this did not lower the pressure enough to affect the cooking, it could conceivably have caused minor scalds to someone in close proximity. I assume it was due to the pressure gauge or valve becoming temporarily clogged - it's not a manufacturing fault and does not occur, for instance, when cooking potatoes.

But as long as you are careful with foods of this type, it's an incredibly useful - and safe - asset to the kitchen.

I have been using this for about a month (bought it when it was sold by Amazon and was cheaper) and it has been great. I have used it to cook stews and rice and this makes it easy and quick to cook. What would take about an hour, an hour and a half only takes 20 minutes, rice is cooked to perfection. Bear in mind this is only big enough to cook for 2 people. Only downside is that when using the cooker, you have to keep an eye on it.

This is a great investment, very well built, I think this will last a very long time.
