Tom Baker carries the show. Worth buying just to watch Tom strutting around wearing The Scarf. I want one. Have to learn to knit.

this is a planet that you do not want to relax on holiday on and Romana is not impressed by an earth seaside town

'The Leisure Hive' blew me away when it was released on video a few years ago. One can only admire director , Lovett Bickford's audacity to cut about 5 minutes off the usual episode length, and then fill the story with long tracking shots where absolutely nothing happens! And he went over budget!
But in my opinion, it was worth it, its a wonderfully atmospheric story.
Tom Baker gives an outstanding performance, in this the first story of his final season. Taking it seriously again, perhaps he already had the feeling he'd be going soon.
And the gorgeous Lalla Ward gives another cracking performance as Romana. But then again, she always did!
Perhaps not one of the so-called 'classics', but its an excellent example of slick 80s TV production none the less.

Not one of Tom's best but it is interesting in that it is John Nathan-Turner's first story as producer. Many changes had taken place, Tom's new "uniform ", new radiophonic music, slick new titles & a more serious, scientific approach to stories. It was a much needed change to a series that was looking rather tired.
Well worth a look

This is a fun story with the "almighty" Tom Baker, and Romana, it has some nice surprises, worthwile the price of the tape. Fun watching Baker as a very old man.
